I love when people embellish bullshit to make something sound worse than it is.

If I lived at Penshurst (as per your location in your profile here) and travelled to ANZ Stadium right now, it would take a maximum of 1h 24min.

As for the direct trains from Strathfield, blame the NRL. They should be sitting down with the Govt like the Swans and Giants have in the past to get free transport integrated into all tickets and memberships.
Almost two hours includes walking to the station. Waiting at said penshurst. waiting at redfern. waiting at lidcombe when nearly every train is late let alone during peak which getting on a train westwards to lidcombe you are not guaranteed to get in.
I fail to see how ive made anything up. I have to leave my place 2 (and some bit) hours before i want to arrive.
As far as no trains from straithfield, the nrl always seems to butcher this, they used to run 2 trains back to the city after every game, now its a f**king lottery for them to run even one, which is f**king horrific when both of the teams are from EAST of ANZ.

Penshurst? 20min up King Georges, park in Lidcombe and walk or 15 minutes. Piece of piss.
I dont have a car. I dont even have a driving license. I Rely on PT and ANZ being a pretty bad venue, doesnt really make me want to go to there very often.

I've never experienced a crowd of 20k at ANZ, I've only been for SOO and a GF and I only go for the experience. The view is a disgrace given the money forked out. I watched the 2008 GF at the Wharf bar in Manly and the 2011 GF at ANZ. There was almost more atmosphere at a pub in Manly than there was at the ground.

Not to meation the $8 mid strength crap at the game lol, the best $500 I have saved was not going to the last 4 GF's...I will only ever consider going if Brisbane was in the final

No offence, but reading that and imagining George Castanza saying it, is really quite amusing...try it!

Great point. The fact that unless it's an Origin game or a special event, they don't run trains directly from Lidcombe to Central after the game is completely baffling.

Whenever there's a footy game on there should be trains directly to and from Central. Pre-game, one every 20 minutes would be sufficient, and every 10 minutes afterwards.

Exacly Bumble - and especially given how much more common crowds over and above 20,000 are these days.

Gone are the days when sub-20k was the norm at Dogs & Souths matches.

ANZ is a great place to play footy of any code.

Not that you would have a clue what its like to play any sport, you hide under your bed at the sign of violence. Do tell us how you know ANZ is a great place to play footy?

Funnily enough QEII Stadium in Brisbane was called ANZ stadium for the 10 years the Broncos played there.

It was one of the worst sporting venues for watching league ever and was designed with Athletics in mind, it was in a shit of place to get too, you were miles away from the field and when it wasn't sold out if felt like a morgue.

Seems to be a consistent them with venues named ANZ Stadium.
Yep this.

None taken. Some of my friends call me Costanza anyways.
 I did the same thing. Just imagine him sitting on some crowded train, screaming "senerity now, serenity now!"
I usually scream "NOT THE HANDS".

It sure makes things better.
I get home earlier after origin/finals even with all those people than the 15k crowd and kick of 30 mins earlier.

FFS.

30k tickets sold > 20k tickets sold.

The few thousand less viewers you get by building up crowds like that takes NOTHING away from tv money but does add money from a different source.

2+1=3
2+2=4

2+2 is better than 2+1

Rugby league as a whole and the clubs individually are hardly rolling in it enough to be able to tell anybody they don't need them at the game.

SFS can't hold more than 35,000 these days due to 10,000 member seating arrangements

Souths and the Dogs are already getting 30,000+ crowds

There is no room to grow at the SFS but a Stadium Australia there is

Because the swans were a premiership contender in the years before 2008? 2008-2011 they declined but they're on top of the ladder this year.

I'd take that seriously if it weren't for the fact that this year they're top of the table yet their home averages are worse than they were in 1996!

Over the course of the last 6 years they've shed 14,000 people from each home game.

The difference between 2006 and 2011 is explained by the decrease in form.

2012 numbers are because they are playing in a 25k capacity stadium with half of the best seats demolished for the season.

Imagine Dogs and Souths crowds if the lower bowl of one entire side of ANZ wasn't available.

What would have been the crowds if the Swans were playing in a complete SCG will be shown by how much bigger the crowd is at the Collingwood game next week compared to the corresponding fixture in previous seasons.

25k capacity? How do you explain their 27k crowd then? So your telling me those 3 shitty run down stands at the scg are almost half the stadium. Do you even go there?

Um no...

Hi @dazpage Capacity of the SCG is currently 33,000. This will increase as the concourse of the new northern stand is built.
But of course you probably think that the SCG are lying about that...

But hey, if you do want to talk about all the empty seats at Swans games this year then -

Just approximately -

Round 2 - 11,000 empty seats
Round 4 - 12,000 empty seats
Round 6 - 9,000 empty seats
Round 8 - 12,000 empty seats
Round 10 - 19,000 empty seats
Round 13 - 6,000 empty seats
Round 15 - 13,000 empty seats
Round 17 - 6,000 empty seats

On average about 11,000 empty seats per game.

They haven't even come close to the reduced capacity.

But of course you wouldn't know because you don't go to games.

Most suburban grounds never draw 20k crowds. If it rains you can half that number. If clubs are happy with 15-16k crowds their choice, can see those clubs getting left behind though.
Left behind by who?

No way can I see Melbourne going to ANZ
