ANZ stadium

Given the shit they'd have to put up with virtually every week from an element of feral Dogs and Rabbits fans i think the over zealousness is somewhat understandable.......

As for the stadium itself it's an absolute soulless shithole. On average i get to 3-4 regular season Storm games in Sydney each year and we instantly draw a line through any games there. Finals we have no choice obviously but you can look past the general crapness of the stadium then because it's the business end of the season.

You've played there in the regular season just FOUR times since 2006

pmsl @ those complaining about the travel. It must be so difficult to get off at Lidcombe, wait 3 minutes for another train. And the walk! All those 500 metres!

I'm no fan of the ground, but it's facilities & access are hands down the best there is.

If bunnies win the premiership, will they burn down Anz stadium?

Haven't had a good stadium burn since Cumberland :sarcasm:

 Bunniesman not conceding because we got the year wrong.

Let me reiterate my argument, you insolent f**kwit:

2008 Elimination Final Sydney 1.5 4.6 12.7 17.8 110Sat 06-Sep-2008 7:30 PM Att:19,127 Venue: Stadium Australia North Melbourne 4.1 6.4 10.5 11.9 75Sydney won by 35 pts [Match stats]

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/seas/2008.html

Now f**k off.
Yep still wrong. Because the point wasn't just "2010" but "last time they played a final at ANZ". On both counts, absolutely 100% wrong.

Thick merkin. 0 empty seats > 50k empty seats. The few hundred people who might miss out on a seat at the suburban ground will go and watch it on TV instead. You know TV, that thing your mum raised you with? The thing that's going to pay for our game into the future?

Dense merkin.

I guess I'm happy to bow to BunniesMan's vast knowledge of AFL. I wasn't paying attention...

FFS.

30k tickets sold > 20k tickets sold.

The few thousand less viewers you get by building up crowds like that takes NOTHING away from tv money but does add money from a different source.

2+1=3
2+2=4

2+2 is better than 2+1

Rugby league as a whole and the clubs individually are hardly rolling in it enough to be able to tell anybody they don't need them at the game.

Interesting averages for the AFL at Stadium Australia. Back in 2007 they averaged around 63k across 3 games.

Last year and this year they've averaged 30k. However a decade ago when they first started they were averaging 42k+ there.

The appeal of Stadium Australia to AFL fans has certainly diminished (or interest in AFL has dimished - take your pick). If you look at their worst 20 crowds there, the majority are from 2008 onwards...

It takes me around 2 hours and 3 trains to get to ANZ.
The amosphere is dead. Viewing is horrible.
Food is overpriced but they have a Subway/Maccas outside of it.
If they ran the train from Strathfield like they were supposed to whenever ANZ has an event, would cut nearly half an hour.
And if its a 7:30pm kick off. If i get home before 11:30pm its a f**king miracle.

Because the swans were a premiership contender in the years before 2008? 2008-2011 they declined but they're on top of the ladder this year. When they play Collingwood at ANZ next week, it will get a massive crowd.

Both my teams in both codes are top 2. ANZ is a great place to play footy of any code.

I love when people embellish bullshit to make something sound worse than it is.

If I lived at Penshurst (as per your location in your profile here) and travelled to ANZ Stadium right now, it would take a maximum of 1h 24min.

As for the direct trains from Strathfield, blame the NRL. They should be sitting down with the Govt like the Swans and Giants have in the past to get free transport integrated into all tickets and memberships.

You should get out there more often then.

Funnily enough QEII Stadium in Brisbane was called ANZ stadium for the 10 years the Broncos played there.

It was one of the worst sporting venues for watching league ever and was designed with Athletics in mind, it was in a shit of place to get too, you were miles away from the field and when it wasn't sold out if felt like a morgue.

Seems to be a consistent them with venues named ANZ Stadium.

That is being kind, it is a fishbowl, rubbish viewing and a rubbish atmosphere. I get better atmosphere at home, and why would I fork out $120+ for terrible seats!

I've never experienced a crowd of 20k at ANZ, I've only been for SOO and a GF and I only go for the experience. The view is a disgrace given the money forked out. I watched the 2008 GF at the Wharf bar in Manly and the 2011 GF at ANZ. There was almost more atmosphere at a pub in Manly than there was at the ground.
