This is why people are hostile towards you. You deliberately ignore any facts related to this subject.

That plus the fact that everyone knows what your agenda is. You're a butthurt dragons fans looking for a way to vent his pent up anger against the storm.

I have heard that getting laid can help people with this problem, you should try it some time.

my argument is very clear

nine are not foolish enough to throw revenue and ratings away.

If they believed league would rate, they would show it.

they have a responsibility to their shareholders to maximise profit and an absolute vested interest in winning as many time slots as they can.

therefore, I believe that there is no massive audience in melbourne for live league.

you really don't see how stupid yopu come across, accussing me of not having a position and yet all your posts are like the one above and rely on insults to get your point across.

7 and 10 must know AFL doesn't rate in Sydney yet they show it.

As has been pointed out numerous times, it's got little to do with ratings and a lot to do with under-the-table payments/protecting personal interests.

so you agree that it doesn't rate.

thank you.

the afl obviously was obvioulsy smarter/has bigger balls when it comes to dealing with the networks.

don't blame nine because the nrl is toothless and don't blame nine because it doesn't rate.

???????????? Of all the paranoid things I've read on here! Some of you people are mad. Honestly!?!?

Secret agreement. For godness' sake, television stations care about television stations and making money, and that's all. In this instance, they paid $780 million for something that was in high demand (by all channels) and it was stipulated that certain criteria must be met. FFS Australian Rules fans are mega pissed as it is about sold out games being showed live and League fans should look at their administration and start there, and not think about or conjure up ideas about some imaginary secret deal.

At any rate (end rant), it's not cool. I'm having a barbie/housewarming this year and wanted to switch it on to the League match after the AFL one. Will be about 40-50 people there. Despite all the Victorian bashing on this place I'm sure many would have watched it. Hell people like sport. Victorians like sport. Can't imagine anyone saying "Put in on Better Homes and Gardens quick! People standing around with beers and food would love to have it on. Once again though, this will not happen.

The commercial television stations' suppression of rival sports to please the AFL was well documented in the C7 court case.

An email from C7 executive Steve Wise, cited in the Federal Court, makes it clear the network bought the rights to football only to bury it, to please the AFL.

The November 2000 email, written when Channel Seven still had the AFL rights, lamented the AFL's lack of gratitude, saying: "There is no credit that we have secured the soccer rights and sufficated [sic] the sport, much to the chagrin of its supporters."

ANZAC Day falls on a Monday next year.

Will Mr Gallop be campaigning for the game to be live on Ch 9 next year in Sydney and Bris?

I wouldn't bet on it. Let's wait and see.

What I'd like to see on ANZAC Day in 2011 is the Dragons v Roosters game shown live on Ch 9 in the afternoon and for the Storm v Warriors clash to be the 7pm Fox game.

They'll probably both be on Fox.

If NZ can improve in one-off Tests, a Test match on ANZAC Day beamed live across the Pacific would destroy any club match for ratings - NRL or AFL.

That's unbelievable.

On a positive note I've noticed that the Ten 5 o'clock news have revamped their sport segmant and are not only showing League first before the AFL but are actually having feel good stories about League. I nearly fell off my chair! A bit of competition at the next rights deal would do us wonders.

The Ch 10 sports news in Sydney, almost always puts league before AFL.

They don't always start with rugby league, but it usually gets a run before the standard useless AFL puff piece is shown.
