yet despite all this rhetoric, not one of you has been able to say why channel nine want to throw revenue away.

not one of you.

Look at how many AFL shows and talk of AFL fill channel 9 melbourne's schedule.
Look at how many AFL people or people who have worked for ALF work for channel 9.

They aren't throwing money away. They are protecting their investment in AFL which eddy values more than the "exclusive free to air" coverage of NRL.

The only way to fix this is with the next TV deal. Every TV show out of Victoria on all channels (7PM project, Good news Week, Offsiders, 10 news, sports tonight, am yet to see an NRL question on Who wants to be eddy's bitch, et al) spends 90% of time mentioned on sport sucking the a#se hole of AFL and rubishing Rugby League. This won't change unless Gallop and co make it happen.

You still haven't shown why it is otherwise, dispite all your dribble.

Problem is the little Turd (Taxi Driver that is) has no arguments at all. He is a waste of space.

my theory is it was an under the table done with News ltd. Ch9 get exclusive dealing rights for the NRL at a song and News get all those RL subscribers in Vic, WA, SA etc. Everyones happy except the game!

Thats a rather paranoid way to look at it, may be true however.

I choose the think its bad decision making by channel 9. They believe they can get more ad revenue to a particular market (the feamale audience) then they can to the weaker male audience, which the NRL audience would be weaker to the AFL.

Just seems like the only logical thing I can think of. They are idiots.

The AFL Anzac game is a sell out, any word on where the NRL sales are, I went last year and dont remember it being a sell out from memory, even though is a much smaller ground

my argument is very clear

nine are not foolish enough to throw revenue and ratings away.

If they believed league would rate, they would show it.

they have a responsibility to their shareholders to maximise profit and an absolute vested interest in winning as many time slots as they can.

therefore, I believe that there is no massive audience in melbourne for live league.

you really don't see how stupid yopu come across, accussing me of not having a position and yet all your posts are like the one above and rely on insults to get your point across.

So you don't think Nine could schedule the League for 1030 rather than 1 in the morning? They're supposed to show it before 12 but don't, it wouldn't clash with the AFL, it wouldn't effect their ratings because they don't get good ratings at that time of night and Ten And Seven show AFL games in Sydney at the same time even though they're not contractually obliged to do so. Is there a genuine reason why Nine can't show Storm games at 10.30?
Personally I think Nine are trying to suck up to the AFL for the next TV rights deal.

cletus, i wish nine would show the games live but aren't going to rip into them for making a business decision.

the earlier they show them the better.

people seem to be taking offense because i don't buy into the argument of nine deliberately keeping a massive viewing audience away from the game.

Thats just it though. Club games have been on telly, and it did rate a lot better than the usual old movie fair. Why don't they show it then, because as you say they are throwing ratings and revenue away. Maybe its because of a conflict of interest with other programing (such as AFL) they wish to promote.

Maybe because the people in charge of 9 in Melbourne are AFL stooges? It might be so Foxtel have a free run in the AFL states? Are you willing to conceed to the fact that TV ratings of Storm games in the past have done much better than what Channel 9 currently show? And if you are ready to accept the facts, can your little brain whirl into action and question WHY it is so?

they have a responsibility to there shareholders to maximise profit and an absolute vested interest in winning as many time slots as they can.

They certainly do, but if putting down a program in a slot that they don't usually win so they can apeal to a rival program to gain more content to boost other time slots, would they not do it? And as has been pointed out there is massive conflict of interest between TV executives with involvment with the AFL and programing of NRL.

therefore, I believe that there is no massive audience in melbourne for live league.

Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc. You have to show it first.

you really don't see how stupid yopu come across, accussing me of not having a position and yet all your posts are like the one above and rely on insults to get your point across.

Now you are just slinging off personal attacks.

If the next TV deal does the game some justice, 9 will end up the bridesmaid with regards to RL. Maybe then they will realise what a great deal they had and wasted.

Just like there is no massive audience for AFL in Sydney.

It's up to the respective admins of the codes to write live/prime time coverage into the TV contracts.

The AFL does this which is the only reason the Swans get prime time in Sydney. Otherwise they, like the Storm, would be on at 12am. The NRL chooses not to write such things into contracts, however that may hopefully change in the next deal.

Now with that all sorted we can all move on.

As I said at the start of this, I'll just be happy if they show it on 9 in either NSW or QLD (they haven't dont that previously, it's always been on Fox). I'll be happier that it's actually live in NSW/QLD.

Having said that we know it was never going to be live in Victoria because of their secret agreement to protect the AFL down there.

This is why people are hostile towards you. You deliberately ignore any facts related to this subject.

That plus the fact that everyone knows what your agenda is. You're a butthurt dragons fans looking for a way to vent his pent up anger against the storm.

I have heard that getting laid can help people with this problem, you should try it some time.

.

9 was always going to show the game, given it's on a Sunday.

I'm pretty sure ANZAC Day fell on a Sunday back in 2004 and 9 showed the game then.

It's no big deal.
