Are the Cowboys?

It’s not about the Best & 2nd best sides making GF. It’s about the 2 most winningest teams in the finals duking it out. The Top 4 get an advantage over the bottom 4. If they are unable to make that advantage work then that’s on them and not the finals series itself.

Just stating the obvious there. I don’t really see what that has to do with what I was talking about.

Roosters nearly beat full strength Melbourne in round 23, leading until the 77th minute. And Parra gave them a fright first week of the finals. Both of them had shown they were capable of worrying the storm.
It's really just going around in circles.
Both teams had chances to get to the GF and didn't and that's what it comes down to.
Parra had a chance to beat Melb, didnt.
Roosters had a chance to beat Cows, didn't.

If the Roosters couldn't beat the Cows, then they weren't going to challenge Melb.
This is basic logic.

No, not necessarily. Cowboys were just better on the day than the roosters and parra but that doesn’t make them a better side necessarily. In fact they clearly weren’t, the fact that they only just stumbled into 8th place is proof of that.

Absolute bullshit

If beating teams doesn't make you better than them all hail this years champions the Newcastle Knights

Ok well in that case if it’s all about winning - roosters and parra won more games than the cowboys this year. So that would make them better.

It's a laugh, mostly Roosters fans telling themselves that to feel better about last week. Shittest team to come 2nd in a long while.

Probably since Penrith in 2010. I still don't know how that happened.

Granted my comment is more to do with your earlier post about the finals series being a ‘flawed concept’ where the best 2 sides don’t necessarily meet in the GF. My ‘stating the obvious’ point relates to that which is quite relevant given the teams who win through to the GF are the 2 best & most winningest regardless of where they finish in the 8.

NQ won just as many games in the finals series as the storm.

Bulldogs 2014
-Finished 7th, most of the season looked nailed on for a 5th-8th finish
week 1 of finals they beat the weakest Storm side in 15 years
week 2 they barely beat a Manly team that was good for the first two thirds of the season and by the finals was on a hard downswing
week 3 they beat an inexperienced Panthers team who seemed overwhelmed by the occasion (who somehow knocked the Roosters off a fortnight prior, putting the 2 contenders on the other side of the draw to the Dogs)
Grand final, completely pasted by the Bunnies.

Parra in 09 are a shout too, although they were garbage for half a season and very good the second half of the season.

There is no way the Cowboys can be classified as the worst team to make a GF. Sure they got lucky in making the 8 but they played genuinely good footy when they got there. Its just Melbourne play a suffocating type of game(call it wrestling, whatever)and NQ just couldn't get into the contest. No shame in that, Melbourne are just that good.

Call it what it is. Cynical exploitation of the rules.

Most definitely. They are only getting away with what is not being policed. Good on them for doing it(others have tried but can’t sustain it), shame on them for doing it(it’s doesn’t enhance the game).

It’s a very flawed concept, having a 26 round competition and then you have a totally separate knockout competition over a month to decide the winner.

It means you often won’t get the two best sides in the GF and that what happened this year. It was 1st vs 8th, that says it all.
Ha.

When it f**king mattered, We were better than those sides.
Yes you were
