Are we fair weather supporters?

I think it’s disgusting that you can find so many strong and diverse opinions on an Internet forum.
I find Internet forums work best when everyone agrees on the correct opinion and no discussion is entered into on any other way of thinking.

I believe we should all stop criticising the team, the coach, the tactics and each other immediately and all just get along.
Maybe we should just have just one thread here where we all just retype the words to the team song over and over again to each other?
Utopia!

"Fair weathered" would imply only supporting the team when they're winning. Half the people here whinge like little bitches when we're winning then carry on like smug arseholes when we have a loss. There's some quality people here and some great supporters but f**k me there's some dickheads. Gonna checkout of here for now and get some perspective, in spite of a rough couple of weeks there's still a chance this is going to be a big season for the red and whites. Catch you all come semi time, as always Go The Dragons!!

Not doing a runner are you mate?:D
Only joking of course but its always good to hear your comment so stay with us.

Forums are all about different personalities and comments.
We can't all agree on everything so as long as someone doesn't make nasty personal comments about another member, we can agree to disagree now and then.

I don’t mind personal attacks, it livens things up a bit.
What really gets under my skin is the “you don’t understand football” comments.
This is, in most cases, an anonymous forum, no real names, the person your talking too may be Craig F**king Bellemy (not his real middle name) for all they know, but they’ll pull out the ole “you don’t watch a lot of games” chestnut.

I am a passionate Dragons' supporter and have been for more than 50 years. I make no claim to be able to analyse the game as some here can. But I have seen enough seasons of footy and have a good enough memory to state without any fear of conviction there has never been an NRL coach who has tried to succeed by only trusting in the same 16 players to take the field for the first 12 games of the season in what has become a 17 man game. To think that we have good young players like Host and Sele getting their initial experience of NRL in the past 2 seasons then getting a total of 5-10 minutes game time in the first 12 rounds of 2018 while members of the trusted 16 carry injuries into games is just so short-sighted. To think we have the highly rated Zac Lomax who was given a 5 minute run with a game lost and apparently carried within the club as a specialist non-playing no 18 is beyond my comprehension. To put the same side out on the field week after week when we have no player prepared to contest bombs (I can't remember any Dragon regularly doing so since Ben Creagh) similarly has me searching for some sort of logical answers. But I am yet to find any.

Is it any wonder that when we lose 3 matches in 6 weeks to teams utilising similar tactics with our coach unable to present alternative strategies that fans air their grievances on this Forum? Is it fair on our team or us fans that we must take the field every week handicapped by the coach?
I love this post & wholeheartedly agree with Dragonsteve2. I'm also a passionate Dragons fan of some 50 years and seen plenty of the good & bad over a long period. But this current tactic of using 16 players is absurd and I do not understand the logic in playing blokes that are busted.
I'm tipping our Coach would drive across Australia with 4 tyres and no spare. Simply ridiculous.

4? Mary says you can plainly see this car is working perfectly well with 3 tyres, anyone that says it needs four is just a negative Nancy who doesn’t understand “Dragons footy”

I don't know about fair weather supporters, but most of us are definitely hyper-reactionary.

Don't get me wrong, plenty of our fans are openly stoked when we're winning, but I think it's sort of glass half empty optimism. Some of us seem to just be waiting for the collapse, rather than embracing the wins.

When we're losing however, the mood gets reeeeally intense sometimes. Last year in particular, it was hilarious watching at least 4 or 5 new thread topics pop up within the space of 15 minutes after a loss talking gloom and doom. The ones who were quiet through the victories tend to come out of the woodwork when we're down on form.

Fair weather supporters :)

The majority of us demand excellence from both the coaching staff and players.

And so we should. We support the mighty red V !!!!

Playing busted players and failure to rotate ISP forwards with meaningful minutes is a sign of no faith in the squad depth and sheer stupidity. So much for player welfare.

I have no problem with our team losing to better sides.

It’s how and why we lost to Penrith that ticks me off.

Been supporting our club for more than 50 years. Passionate yes. Fair weather no.

He'd probably take his jet ski as an emergency vehicle.

So you think that Mary can get a team to play well for the first half of the season, and then get them to play bad for the rest? lol
I think what they’re getting at is don’t have them peaking at round one and then tapper off half way through the season. Also you need to change your game plan throughout the year as teams will work out how to play against you, which Has happened the last couple of weeks. Hopefully they can get a second wind come finals time, provided we are still in the eight!!

Can only say that I am one of those supporters who wear their heart on their sleeve - quite simply love my Dragons . Can take a loss , more so when the opposition is the better team , but not when we send out a team with a few crocks among them , a recipe for disaster .

That disappoints me no end , as it is not fair to the rest of the players and puts the team at a distinct disadvantage , especially when the coach is aware of the true situation . It's like buying a ticket on the Titanic , the same captain Mary is steering the ship , he has reports of icebergs in the immediate vicinity , but . . .

I just hope for all our sakes that he takes notice of the reports on this occasion , as he has already lost ships in 2015 - 16 - 17 .
