Gitano I can accept losses, I even planned for 7 losses this year, so another 4.

However, what irks most of the forum and me is the following.

A. Playing busted injured players and thinking they can compete against other highly trained footballers. Look at Penrith, injured players are stood down to recover and they give some ISP guys a go. Leading the comp. Our club thinks highly injured players are better than fit ISP players.

B. Playing with 16 week after week after week.

C. Sticking with a coach who has no success for the past 3 years while clubs like Souths sack Maguire who led them to a GF, but became like Mary.
Now look at how they are going with their new coach.

D. Sticking with old worn out players like nighty while great teams move their old players into retirement and bring new players through to keep the team fresh and on top.

These issues raised by forum members are all relevant and fair. Many on this forum seem to know more about football than Mary and co.

The principles of creating a great team is no different to creating a great team in the work place or even creating a great family unit.

Mary and co are the ones who don't understand football.

Well said ""Our years"- The thing that's annoying is that we'll probably end up losing the more promising ISP players due to Mary's lack of faith in them. Lawrie got some decent minutes against Penrith but only because we lost players to injury. In previous weeks, we've seen Robson, Lomax and others only given a couple of minutes at the end of the match when there was little to play for. One theory for this is that Mary is a scared coach - he only thinks he can win with his top 16 or so players. This exposes another of his weaknesses- his inability to bring through young talent. Meanwhile over at Cronulla, Shane Flanagan has brought through Jayden Brayley, Jessie Ramien and a young prop whose name escapes me. Flanno could teach Mary a trick or two.

Yeah not sure Flanno is amazing at bringing youth through. Oldest pack in the comp with Gallen and Lewis both well into their 60s now.
Just because they have a young hooker(22) and centre(21) playing for them doesn't mean flanno is bringing youth through any better than McGregor. You could easily say that Mary has brought young dufty(22) and aitken(22) through into first grade could you not? Whats the difference?

Crushy, we can list them all, Penrith have 6 young guns in their team, Newcastle have 6, Souths have 4, Broncos had 5 and beat the roosters with their young un's a few weeks back..

Ummm, we have 1 or 2 who have been there for a few years.

Recently....splinters on the bench are given more game time.

Go through the Souths, Broncos and Panthers teams and weep out loud at out poor development.

I don't know about fair weather supporters, but most of us are definitely hyper-reactionary.

Don't get me wrong, plenty of our fans are openly stoked when we're winning, but I think it's sort of glass half empty optimism. Some of us seem to just be waiting for the collapse, rather than embracing the wins.

When we're losing however, the mood gets reeeeally intense sometimes. Last year in particular, it was hilarious watching at least 4 or 5 new thread topics pop up within the space of 15 minutes after a loss talking gloom and doom. The ones who were quiet through the victories tend to come out of the woodwork when we're down on form.
Last year 6 wins form the last 17 games = DOOM
Missing the 8 from an unassailable position = GLOOM
Half Empty mentality comes from our terrible recent history.
Can you blame us?

We have a well balanced team.
A combination of youth and experience.
Calm down. Nobody should be weeping out loud at our poor development.

"Fair weathered" would imply only supporting the team when they're winning. Half the people here whinge like little bitches when we're winning then carry on like smug arseholes when we have a loss. There's some quality people here and some great supporters but f**k me there's some dickheads. Gonna checkout of here for now and get some perspective, in spite of a rough couple of weeks there's still a chance this is going to be a big season for the red and whites. Catch you all come semi time, as always Go The Dragons!!

Enjoy your contributions walpole.
Do what I do only read the forum members you respect and who understand football.
Don't let the dheads get you down.
This will be our biggest year since 2010.
See you soon

No, but the point was other teams do develop a whole lot more, you were saying they don't.

Tell me who we have READY for first grade to cover say 2 backline injuries and 2 forward injuries.

They are not nearly ready, yes they play ISP, but no, they are not first grade material crush.

Penrith, Soufs, Broncos and Storm all have their kids ready to rumble.

We don't.

What have you been watching the last three years? He hasn't managed the team well in the past and we are flat for the second half of the year, yes. I trust we will manage better than previous years despite him. We have some great talent but it's not in the coaching box. He's good at getting a happy unit of players, not much else.
Parra has some good talent too and a great coach..............apparently

I get what your saying but the teams you mentioned were forced to play juniors due to injuries. It's been different for the Dragons who have been lucky to have the same line up until now.

I hate the fact that Mary keeps the 17th man on the bench until the last 10 mins of the game. I can't see why they can't have a spell in the first half. You don't get any benefits of playing with 16 players...

While I'd love to see the juniors given a shot, Mary won't change a winning side. I was kind of hoping we didn't have the bye this week so we could see a different team and how they go. Also i really hope Mary gives the origin players a week off to recover otherwise they'll burn out.

Ummmmm “see a different side”?
Did you not notice the same team trotted out week after week last year while we continued to lose?
Mary has his favourites regardless of form.

I just think that we are realistic, especially as it relates to Mary. Even though we are equal top of the table at present, I don't believe that he has the ability to guide us through the SOO period and then actually coach the team down the stretch let alone make any half time adjustments to game plans that aren't working. I mean really, Ben Hunt lasted 15 minutes and the coaching staff must have known he was not good to go and should have rested him. From a coaches perspective, that speaks volumes to the younger players on the cusp of first grade, that the head coach would rather go with a busted player than give them an opportunity to grow and develop as a player and contribute to the team. He'll probably bring Hornby and Young out of retirement to cover the SOO period.

Mary Derangement Syndrome (MDS)

A satirical psychological diagnosis to explain the hysterical reaction and ignorant comments of people, directed towards anything related to Mary McGregor, as pertaining to his coaching. With the obsession to mock, slander, make fun of, and criticise Mary at any moment possible, while ignoring any positive outcomes.

I did notice that however we are in a different position this time around with a genuine halfback.

I agree re Mary has his favourites but apart from Nighty, everyone is deserving of their spot. We've only lost 3 games.

I think now that he's got some points in the bag, he might give some players a rest and give some juniors some game time.

The time to give the likes of Herbert, Lomax and John some game time was when we were winning easy and had many points on the board. Circumstances like that takes the edge off the nerves and possibly allows for the youngster to get more time on the field. Doing this helps in two ways. It rests the first grader and gives the reserve grader some valuable experience.
