Three choices. Leave him in reserve grade. It's pretty clear his teammates don't give two f**ks, so it's not going to impact performances, and if the players union wants to get involved, that's only going to impact Galvin. The press release was amateur, reads like a kid prepared it, and only served to stir the story.
In the statement, they will not be releasing him early. A stupid thing to say. Never lay your cards on the table like that.
Now they have 2 choices
1) keep a potentially cancerous squad member for 18 months, the media scrutiny, the players union etc
2) back track and look weak like they're still getting dicked around and manipulated by player managers.
I think the exact opposite. I think it's shown they're finally not going to be dicked around by player managers.
If anything, the reaction of the players and Tigers fans shows that the clubs position was the correct one.
If they didn't "give two f**ks" they wouldn't comment of social media like jilted high schoolers. Silly stuff from 2 guys that left their last club for more money$$$.Three choices. Yes everyone remembers the Billy Slater and Cam Smith "opinions" on Instagram when Copper Cronk signed with the Rorters......nah just kidding - leaders don't behave like children. They're entitled to their opinion, just like anyone else.
You're a bit out of touch with the way younger people do things these days, and that's ok. Everyone gets old.
I think the 20 conceded against the Dogs comes with a big asterisk though. We essentially were 2 players down from the time of kick off, including a winger which is always tricky to replace. Then we had Hetherington go down with 30 mins to go and a period down to 12 men too. So conceding 3 tries under those circumstances isn’t that bad. We’ve conceded 26-20-24 our last three games, with barely offering points ourselves. Wooden spooners kept to 8, and a flood ravaged away Dolphins to 12 is hardly cause for optimism.
Our defence is admirable compared to our attack. But we’re one of two teams still only conceding double figures. The other is somewhat better off.I think the 20 conceded against the Dogs comes with a big asterisk though. Also if you look at the games v Tigers round 6 and the Titans round 4 we only completed at 67% in both of those. That brings a lot of fatigue with it and just puts unnecessary pressure on the defence, especially given how many we dropped coming out of our own defensive end.
To me, the defence hasn’t been atrocious by any means, and actually does look pretty good in patches. But we’re just not in control of the game at all when we drop so much ball. If we fix that up and complete over 80% regularly then our defence is good enough to keep most teams to under 20 points in a game. Which right now, we need to be doing because our attack looks dreadful, outside of one game against the dolphins.
Burton and Kikau missing may have slowed them, much like the Knights injuries you suggested. Also the Dogs dusting Souths 32-0 today puts that 20-0 game against us into perspective. We weren’t that bad in defence all things considered.
Yes we are aware of that. And if you look across the competition that is actually against trend. Cos many sides are conceding big points and still winning. Which is why it looks worse than it actually is, cos attack is woeful. We kept the Dogs tryless in a half. And were injury riddled. We’ve conceded 26-20-24 our last three games, with barely offering points ourselves. Wooden spooners kept to 8, and a flood ravaged away Dolphins to 12 is hardly cause for optimism.
