I really think arcade + cricket will never really work. I would love to see a cricket game that has the action, but you don't control the intricacies of bowling or batting. You kind of setup the team and manage them, and then on the field act as captain. You have to set the field, pick the bowlers and maybe you can tell your bowler to keep it tight, or get him hooking, or whatever.
Then at the end of each over, or every few overs, you have a mock discussion with the keeper and a couple of other senior players and they make some bland comment like "we need to get him driving, there is life in the wicket" or "get the spinner onto him, he can't play spin" ... remarks that sometimes get the result and other times don't work at all.
There's not as much you could do during batting, maybe control the running or the aggressiveness of shots against certain bowlers, but still... I just think that would make for a more endearing cricket game than trying to control everything, and wouldn't be as boring as a management game where you set everything up and then the match just unfolds on its own accord more or less.
