Ha, I'm not defending my own country. Our Nats manage to choke all the time. Our league fields some great starting XIs but can't reach into their pockets for any depth. Poke fun at the US all you want. I was arguing for Mexico--our death-flopping, ref-blaming, urine-bag-throwing rivals. Nevertheless, they are good.

Maybe you're still riding a WC06 high, and I don't blame you because it was exciting and I cheered for you guys, but come on. Mexico would not be toppled easily by anyone in the AFC. Australia could earn a WC berth through CONCACAF, but not likely at Mexico's expense.

I never said they would be toppled easily, or that Australia would qualify at their expense.

But, we would push them thats for sure. They're good - but not to be feared.

Mexico are better than us, IMO. Though we would be capable of beating them on a good day.

I think alot of people overrate us, really. We won one game in the WC, and that was in the last 10 minutes against an Asian side by throwing on three strikers and playing long balls. Hiddink (as good an organiser and morale booster as he was) wasn't the master tactician that many thought. Remember, we qualified for the WC on penalties.

Apart from that we struggled to score goals under the Hiddink regime (and now PV) due to a monotonous, boring, repetitive style with no creative players - an injured Kewell aside. If anything, the Dutch philosophy has improved our defence and organisation, but weakened the attack and the ability to create chances.

But I do agree that CONCACAF is weak as p*ss.

Success of junior sides does not correlate to success of senior teams.

Brazil have never won an olympic gold.

And that loss to Honduras was 8 years ago, so is pretty irrelevant.
