What is this position they have created ?

Isnt it Dean Bells job to handle recruitement ?

Stace was coaching the Pt Chev Pirates and even with the talent he shanghied into the team, he failed.

Must go buy some of those rose tinted glasses some of you clowns are wearing, hope they stock them at the $2 shop, or are they sold out to Warriors fans ?

Stacey = halves coach ...

what position did McFadden play?

Stacey will progress up the ladder failrly fast I'd suggest.

Willie Swann was also a half too.

I thought the same about Jones/McFadden I must admit...but in the absence of Oz's Northland ganja in my blood system it seem a very decent decision to get Stacey involved in any capacity.

Listening to a couple of interviews, McFadden's key assignment is defence. Jones' assignment is targetting the 14-16 year old age group to identify and develop those players - he's also available to give assistance to the halves. Oz, you're not confusing things are you - it sounds like you think he's a full timer with the senior squad, which is just not the case.

Listened to the new strength and wrestling guy, Brad Morris? Very interesting to hear his views on strength and conditioning, and some of the new equipment coming to the Warriors. There was something like a low oxygen chamber?? Designed to try and force players to get into difficult positions aerobically and force them to increase their breathing capacity under stress. Little things like that surely would be of some assistance to prevent the 70 minute meltdowns they suffered this year.

If I could offer a positive view on McClennan, it certainly would have been nice for him to be given these resources. Better late than never though, the squad needs to get professional and its about time its at least starting to resource its football department appropriately.

Mate, Bluey was shit on, from a great height.

I read the media release for Stace, its not a new position as such, but has new responsibilities.

The halfback mentoring made me laugh, whats next, Henry Fa'afili going to be wing coach, Campion to coach our front row ?

The club is in the shit, they need a respected ex player to bolster morale and increase membership.

Thats my theory, anyway..9

Yeah I don't know if its that oz. They have Steve Price doing that, don't they?

Scurrah seems to think if he 'fixes' his mistakes, everything is ok and others can be held accountible. The fact is the football department as a whole had a poor strategy both on and off field. They were resourced horrifically, and it showed. I guess my thoughts are I'm just glad that for once we're starting to put in place some professional structures. The top football clubs (NFL, EPL etc) all have specialists focusing on high value areas, its about time the Warriors took the same approach. That to me is one of the most important things they need to back up their vision on where they want the club consistently performing at.

Good point.

I still see this panic ( we f**ked it up) mentality from being grand finalists one year, to almost spooners the next.

I really, really hope you are right and Im wrong.

Hey Oz bash,

You obviously didnt get the memo did you.
Bell is GM of Football - so he overlooks everything to do with football.

Jones role sees him working with the development squad - that is his primary role.
This is training the 14-18 years old that are bot contracted and non-contracted.
i.e the guys not playing 20s.

Jones havent taken over recruitment - but if he is working with aspiring warriors and attending alot of school football - clearly he is in a position to work with recruits.

This was something already part of the dev. coaches role - but i suppose being fulltime he would be expected too watch kids footy all weekend.

Purely a senior scout.

What are you on about .... Pt Chev didnt fail.
He turned the club around ..... he has lead them from 3 division through to the Foz - where they are now a top side.

they have a few decent junior teams ...the club had nearly died off.

Remember Ackland, Bluey - won local championships at mt albert/hibiscus coast with MONEY and built there careers on such championships.

guys like Aaron Heremaia and Paleasina were shipped up from South Auckland.
Mt Albert every year spend shit loads to buy and pay players - to win championships.

Pt Chev did no more than clubs like Mt Albert, Papakura - many players actually went to pt chev because they wanted to be coached by Stacey Jones.

You honestly sounds like one of the know it all fuddy dud dinosaurs that run ARL.

For a guy whose had his tounge up ropati's backside for the past 6 or 7 years, your credibility is shot when it comes to calling people cheerleaders.

You didn't read the release properly Oz my boy...about 2nd or third par from memory it said 'newly-created role'. Just checked, it was in the 2nd par.

Campion wasn't a prop, right? And if he was mentoring our forwards, that would be a magical thing wouldn't it? I'd go for it. I don't believe the ex-player to bolster morale thing but I appreciate your take on it. I can see why you'd go that way - it's certainly a better move than that loyal BS.
