9's are going to faster then any rugby league match. LOLZ Fittler will be dead in 2 mins unles there is unlimited subs

If we are lucky he may only sustain an injury that will prevent him dribbling for any other game this coming season.

Agreed. Can't wait to see him play, as I never saw him live back in the day. But my god It's embarrassing for the game to hear him dribble on with Johns and co. throughout a game... It's like he has the mentality of an 8 year old ffs. At least Johns actually has some insightful comments on the plays of the game when he's not producing mindless banter when teamed up with Freddy...

Freddy claiming that Easts will be including SBW....so much for the keyboard heroes on here whinging that we weren't taking it seriously

WCC straight after with a limited pre-season for most of the squad. They will take it as serious as they have too only.... They won't be alone

I think most teams will take it quite seriously, they are professionals with a massive will to win after all.

The problem for the NRL & organisers is how seriously they take the off-field party once eliminated, which may effectively be the Saturday for some teams.

Your never truly eliminated in these things though. There are play offs for the plate and bowl etc. etc.

Regardless what you are saying is a genuine concern.

Apparently SBW is skipping the nines.

http://m.tvnz.co.nz/sport/sport/5793841

I'm not surprised... The promoters of this event have been publicly bagging him and calling him scared.

Why would he want to help them make money?

As the Tui ad says ...yeah right.
Haven't we all heard this at least once before & just recently?

But then again, he's aiming for the 7s...can't get found out prior or he'd have no chance

And last but not least, who gives a flying f***?
Aaah, feel better now...

IF he doesn't play I can't say I blame him :sarcasm: or others (and not just Roosters) it could be injuries just waiting to happen... hopefully not

There's just as much chance if not more chance of injuries happening in trial games than the nines...

I never expected SBW to play as Duco have been giving him shit for over a year now.

His inclusion will drive up interest in the event which only go directly into Ducos pocket.

I'm going so obviously I'd like to see him there... But I don't Blame him for telling them to f**k off...

Brad Thorn was gonna play for the Broncos for this tournament until his Highlanders coach blocked his participation. Would have been cool to see 2 40 year olds face off, like Highlander or something.

SBW doesn't come back to pre-season until February, even if he wanted to play I'd be surprised if the club let him.

It's not great timing for the Nine's first season, a lot of players returning from the WC will choose getting as close to a full pre-season in as possible over playing in a Nine's tournament imo. I imagine it will also be the priority of the clubs significantly affected by the World Cup.

I still think it'll be a huge success but we'll probably see more clubs and players open to the concept in 2015 than the first time round.

Is that the first time in the history of the world that "Highlander" has been used twice within two consecutive sentence's yet meant two completely different things??

It's only 5 days out of the pre season calendar isn't it? 1 day travel each way and 2 days of the tournament, 1 day recovery. I would have thought it would be a reasonable way to get some fitness work and ball handling done without massive contact and body trauma of a full contact full game. Seems an ideal way to spend a week of pre season if you ask me.

Fittler playing the 9s is ridiculous. It's like watching a 60 year old porn star spread her legs.

How many Top players play the trial 3 weeks out from the comp? Given the NZ & Aus WC players won't train before Feb. Plenty won't play those that do will go hard. SBW, Inglis, JT etc are just too valuable to play a 9's tournament under done

I heard 1 of the tournament organisers (didnt catch his name) on the radio yesterday speaking with Graeme Hughes & he said all teams will have school visits on the Wednesday.

Perhaps they will go over Wed morning & do that in the arvo but there are only so many planes, so some teams may go Tuesday or even Monday?

If clubs only have to pick 12 players out of their top 25 do you really think clubs are going to risk their stars like Inglis, Slater, Thurston, Burgess, SBW etc, especially just after a World Cup. It's unlikely!
