This event just got it's groove IMO..

Even if he is simply used as a marketing tool, it's a brilliant idea..

I was ambivalent towards the whole deal, now i can't wait for it..

I only got to see him play live once. really pissed that I didn't go see him play in '04. Creaming my pants at the thought of watching getting another opportunity to see him play.

I'm sure even non-Roosterites who have tickets are feeling the same way

I think it's a good idea, all it will do is raise interest in the event in Australia.

If the event is popular with the crowds in NZ and rates well over here in Australia it'll be off to a great start for the future.

But in saying that I think the NRL shouldn't allow it to become a regular thing, just something that a club/s may choose to do once in a blue moon as a novelty.

I will not miss a Chooks game just to see Freddy run around a few more times.

Keep in mind plenty of players retire for reasons which aren't their bodies are no longer operational. Stuff like the mental and physical burden of full time playing and training, missing out on being with their families and even just not being good enough to keep playing at the top level, coupled with the fact the 9s is only 18 minute games with two players in a tackle max (one would assume), there's no reason Freddy will be the only one who does this.

They won't be raiding retirement homes to get players.

but how brilliant would it be to see Joey, Beaver or Thorn go around one last time?

Andrew Walker would be one guy i'd like to see play again..

I think he played somewhere in Qld this year, so it's not a ridiculous idea, & the 9's format would suit him down to the ground..

Cliffy Lyons is another..

I don't even have tickets and i'm still excited to see him play, one of my favourites and a hilarious bloke on the Sunday Footy show every second thing is hilarious you can't hate him.

I got to see him play live a couple of times. But only once for the roosters. And it was in 04.

David Peachey and Craig Wing for the Rabbits! Even though they weren't prolific for the club we have no one else of note from the past few years...

no it's not

clubs have to provide a certain amount of top players

I didn't realise being good meant you had to take every game you play seriously.

The tournaments strength will be its fun, party atmosphere. If the NRL goes down the dimbass route of trying to make it super serious it will fail miserably.

Is love to see all clubs pick a veteran great to join the squad. Who wouldn't love to see Price back in a dogs jersey, Hindy back for the eels, Girdler playing for the panthers etc. It would only increase the interest in the competition.

Who actually wins each game will mean precious little to the ratings. Providing the scores are close (which getting ring ins will help) no one gives a shit

I agree wholeheartedly. If the 9s wants to succeed, it must form an identity of excitement and innovation.

Fittler would guarantee I'll watch a bunch of matches I otherwise may have skipped.
