Ok, so what was the highest Sharks offer? & even moe important, why didnt he sign?
This is an even better story of the figure is actually lower than reported.

People keep saying why he didn't sign but you dispute it...so please tell me why. I'd love to know because we could really use him given our current injury woes.

I won't get into the exact details. But the offers were not that much different. Panthers was a little more.
Panthers said he would get first shot at first grade. We wouldn't guarantee that. He wanted to stay but got the impression that he wasn't wanted.

Not this year he isn't. But next year is a different story.

His contact does increase but it is incentive based and still won't reach 300k.

Then Why didnt he give the Sharks last right of reply with a contract offer?
Who gets guarantees at any club?
You have been mislead.

Exactly. There are no such guarantees given. it would be stupid and irresponsible and open up a Pandora's box for management at clubs.

Who remembers Apricot's "guarantee" from Opes? Yeah, good one, first shot in a meaningless trial.

And assuming that he was guaranteed a crack he hasnt really grabbed it by the nuts. Had success last week but he's been dropped previously. All bets off now.

Since coming up from NSW cup the last time he has progressed from the bench to starting his third game for us this week coming off a two try performance last week. Injury opened the way for him to start but so far he is keeping Brown on the bench and Robinson in reserve grade both are good players, Brown seems to be a favourite of Clearys.

I cant see him going back to NSW cup now.

Surely

The Paper said:
But the biggest factor in his decision to turn-down Panthers supremo Phil Gould and a three-year deal from Parramatta worth $850,000 was repaying Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan.
After dreaming of playing his entire career at Penrith, Graham arrived at Cronulla in late 2010 with the wounds from his axing to Toyota Cup side still fresh.
The 21-year-old has not forgotten Flanagan's pledge to back him in first grade at the start of last year, a vow that was kept despite some indifferent form in a struggling team.

Ivan's a great coach. He'll bring the best out of his players and is nothing if not patient. Wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the key reasons Peach left once he had met him. Next supercoach imho.

This is the closest to what I heard apart from our first offer being a joke. Granted no-one can be granted a first grade spot but Gus was definitely in his ear telling him how good he could become. Peach is correct saying Flanno and Sharpy didn't see him as a first grader.

So perhaps the Gus bullshit worked. After 11 rounds he is in first grade at a club running second. Had he stayed who knows? Penani now surplus to requirements. Fact is the incumbent coaches prefer NRL proven players to youngsters.

Let's be realistic , only injury keeping Richard out of First grade 17 most weeks.

Just how good as a youngster you have to be at the Sharks to get a run is the question. Peach 20s and NSW Cup lock of the year. Lichaa 20s origin hooker 2 years running.

As for Reefy's right of reply the Sharks were merited ,Peach believed he had better first grade chances at Penrith and was right. Sharks would have been better to give him the bullshit line too. But didn't. It is harder to believe when you are at a club and see what is going on day to day.

Of course he wanted to stay. He was at games on the Family Hill with his mates watching the Sharks years ago. The same mates who are reasonable sources of information. Some of them still playing Footy. But all drink at Northies as did Peach until leaving.

I like Peachey, I was a bit upset when he left, but lets face it, he has had one stand out game against a Parra side missing their backbone.

Peach has struggled a few games this year, and played some solid games.

Can he become a future first grade. Sure. No doubt, anyone with desire and heart can.

But I dont think he will be the immortal and the one that got away like everyone is making him out to be.

Where is this coming from? He has been fairly solid in all his games building up to last week, he has been quiet in some but I cant think of any he that he actually struggled, he was dropped back to NSW cup but that is because imo Ivan makes young guys work hard to crack the FG side, usually they are given a game or two and sent back with things to work on. The kid is a future rep play for sure, Gallen said yesterday he will be the best attacking backrower in the comp one day. Future first grader? Lol.

That is not an Ivan thing. It is what every good coach does. The only people that cant accept that are Sharks supporters. According to 90% of Sharks supporters on here, all of our 20's should be regular first graders, already. Thats because we have 5 guys over the age of 29.
