Well I mean no one is knocking the door down like you said but IIRC McSweeney averages 50-odd over the past 2 shield seasons or so? He's also a very good fielder and an excellent leader from what you see of him

More than that, he just looks a player too. He plays patient and late and compact. Maybe he's not the guy, but he's a guy who deserves a shot IMO
Yep i would rather see the selectors pick McSweeny and it fails then go back to Bancroft/Harris who just ain't up to it after multiple test cracks in the teams.

If they pick The Sweeney I hold he gets as many chances as Mitch Marsh.

Not just discard him like a used franger after a few tests if he's not scoring.

Well done to McSweeney and Inglis. Is Boland really our next best quick? He didn’t look threatening at all against India A. Plus it’d be best to rid the side of all Victorians if possible.

I'd pick Boland for the mcg, I guess they're thinking his height might trouble the Indians. Neser's injury probably cost him.

Very happy with Inglis, I think he's a better player than Carey, but hard to drop Carey in his current batting form.

McSweeney should be given all 5 tests.

sensible choice, McSweeney was next in line and deserves his chance, not sure if he's an opener though

Good luck my sweet.

We've got left/right at the top of the order. We will be unstoppable.

Boland probably isn't the next best quick but what he will do is bowl all day. Won't be picked unless the deck suits a bang it in bowler anyway, and if it does he's shown what he can do in suitable conditions.

McSweeney probs should have been there in the middle order last year tbh. Gonna be tough to debut AND open for pretty much the first time. I hope we give him some rope tbh, he's very much a Test player for mine

McSweeney had a good finish to the year after the windies series.

His numbers probably werent good enough when Warner retired to get him in then.

read an interview with McSweeney and he said he used to be an opener earlier on but not at this level obviously

he was open to it, pardon the pun

How many tests does McSweeney get if he doesn’t deliver?

Also, if he fails does he become a Marcus Harris “rotated in and out” player or is he done?

Well given Wadey got 15 years of undeserved international cricket and 36 farcical tests, I think we can give a bloke who isn't an absolute retread a few home summers.

I think if he can't make a fist of opener they'll give him a go in the middle order post Darsh or Labs or Smith
