Well he tried averaging near 40 which worked for Beer and Lyon yet still being overlooked.

Ignoring Beer who seems to be picked based on what the previous selectors did, Cowan has been pretty average. Other than that squad looks good.

A few suss selections.

Guys like Bollinger, Hilfenhaus, Siddle, North,Rogers, D Hussey, Voges, etc should never be picked for A teams. If they have, at some point, been Australia regulars, and can't be classified as youngsters anymore, then it defeats the point. The A team should be utilized to determine the international quality of previously untested players (for the most part).

1. Warner (NSW)
2. Davis (WA) or Forrest (QLD) - both have better form than Maddinson
3. Cooper (SA)
4. Bailey (TAS) - I would have flown back Khawaja if Shaun Marsh wasn't injured though
5. Faulkner (TAS) or Butterworth (TAS) or Marsh (WA) or Henriques (NSW) - seam allrounder, pick ahead of Cowan
6. Wade (VIC) - keeper
7. Maxwell (VIC) or Smith (NSW) - spinning allrounder role, Maxwell might pip Smith on form
9. Cutting (QLD)
9. Starc (NSW)
10. O'Keefe (NSW) - much better than Beer, although you could very well play Pattinson as a 4th seamer OR try young Queenslander Boyce
11. George (SA)

well if you believe the rumours and wotnot, he has an attitude and is allegedly a party animal but I think making him Blues skipper was supposed to fix that

Not sure where the Cooper hate comes from, the kid is an absolute gun and has just come off a second innings double hundred. Cutting is the leading Shield wicket taker isn't he? Hardly rubbish and definitely in form...I wouldn't have Hilfy though
