Dallin Watene-Zelezniak was picked despite missing most of the National Championships with concussion. Selectors must have decided on him before the tournament.
I'd say he only needed to step onto the field to gain selection. Was unlucky not to be picked last year. This kid has been playing Arrive Alive Cup (whatever its called now) since he was 15 (started with St Doms) he would surely hold the record for most top level schoolboy games? if theres such a thing.

Yeah Ashcroft were always the stronger school and I've been out of the place for 12 years now. Area seemed to weaken in league as whole for a while there tho. Hoxton Park had a decent side along with us around 2000 with plenty of the parra junior reps littered amongst our teams.

Good to see a young Valley Boy gaining selection.

Hey Jack, i am an old Ashcroft boy.
Back in the 70' & 80's Ashcroft produced some great players.

Freddy Fittler,Jason Taylor,Ahmed Bajouri,Hassan Saleh.Even Junior Paulo from the Eels who made his debut this year,a graduate of the school in 2011.
Still producing some good players, but the area always seems to sidetrack majority of them.Having babies young, drugs etc

Not to sure on some of the Qld boys. Liolevave - Bulldogs maybe like his brother?

DWZ, Aitken, Hastings, Whitelaw and Meehan have all played Holden Cup for their teams so far this year.

Lamar Liolevave is a kiwi - this is his second year in Aus??
Watene-Zelesniak and Nikorima probably future Kiwit target too

Yeah Liolevave is not eligible for Qld 18s/20s/Seniors. Only been here a few years. Interestingly though Jayden's bro Kodi has chosen NZ over Aus, but Jayden chose Aus/Qld as he played Qld 18s a few weeks back. Obviously things can change though.

Good to see another Valley Boy on here!
Had 2 Uncles who both were graded for sydney club teams playing in the area around the mid to late 70's. both went to Busby tho. I imagine the Green Valley Cup or equivalent back in those days was a thousand times better than any I played in.

Does playing for NSW 18's and Australian Schoolboys mean you have chosen Australia for senior footy?

Australian Schoolboys means nothing in terms of senior eligibility, NSW and Qld U18s is supposed to but, for example, Gerard Beale played Qld 18s and then switched to NZ. Unless the rules changed when they changed the eligibility rules last December and Im just not aware.

Even in my last post, Kodi Nikorima played Qld 18s last year and he's apparently chosen NZ now.

Pretty sure if you're not Australian and make an Australian schoolboys team, you have the option to choose who you want to play for in senior footy at rep level.

Benji Marshall declared early on that he wanted to be a Kiwi, apparently QLD selectors were looking at him to play Origin (this was way back when he first started and had played about a dozen games over 2 years)

Charlie Taylor from Saint Augustine College and Manly Sea Eagles Holden Cup Player, has been called into the team to replace Euan Aitken through Injury. A lot of people and Officials who watched the Australian Championships in Cairns said Taylor should have been picked originally for the team. Taylor was voted the Most Outstanding Player for his NSWCIS Team and got Man of The Match as well. Strong and Incredibly Fast who is a great finisher with tries.
