When the Johnasson match ended they switched to the Scriphan match, so we still don't get it. I wonder if Fox Sports are allowed to telecast Vodafone Arena matches. They haven't shown any part of any of the VA games today. I know they can't show RLA games.

Well Sam hasn't played well at all.

The stomach really isn't an excuse as mauresmo is injured to.

The way she played from being 3-1 up in the second was pathetic to say the least.

Final result: Amelie Mauresmo defeated Samantha Stosur, 6-2, 6-3.

She was disappointing, but Amelie Mauresmo put in a solid performance, and as she mentioned in her courtside interview, she was patient and played 'measured' shots (nothing too outrageous). Her court movement was much better than I expected. She played extremely well considering the lack of recent match play. As for Sam, her poor execution in her play, and her ridiculously high unforced error count were definitely her major downfalls. Right from the onset, it was always going to be tough against Amelie. Despite the loss, she has had a fantastic start to 2005.

Well Guermello Garcia-Lopez just beat Carlos Moya (5) in 4 sets 7-5,6-3, 3-6, 6-3

in a most entertaining match.

This kid has a bright future.

I didn't manage to see the entire match - I started watching at the commencement of the 3rd set. Even though Carlos Moya won the 3rd set, his body language still conveyed that he still wasn't mentally strong enough to win the match in 5 sets. He just seemed to me to be disinterested. That's not taking away the great tennis Guermello Garcia-Lopez displayed this afternoon. Good on him

Probably started around the time you posted the message. It's 30 minutes later now, and early in the 2nd set

Molik struggled to finish her off.

6-3 in the third.

Casey Dellacqua has had her chances in her match, but looks like she'll be going down in 3.

Yeah, Jelena Kostanic just overpowered the young Aussie in the last 2 sets, but as you mention, she did have her chances. Jelena converted 6 of her 9 break point opportunities, whereas Casey was only successful on 3 attempts of her 7 opportunities.

I watched Alicia's match when channel 7 began to televise it - at that stage Alicia already had a break in hand. She was absolutely superb in the first set. Her power, accuracy and execution were amazing to watch. She did drift apart slightly in the latter stages of the second set, but she just continues along her impressive journey.

Currently watching the David Ferrer and David Nalbandian clash - quite an interesting contest this has become. David Ferrer currently leading two sets to one.

I will be watching Lleyton Hewitt in action tonight also :D

Just heard it is currently 2 sets all in the Ferrer v. Nalbandian match. However, Nalbandian has gained an early break in the 5th set.

hewitt match will be a good match

I think Hewitt will either win extremely easily, or win in 4 sets.

Yup, it should be a good match - can't wait! You would expected Lleyton to win in straight sets, but you can never underestimate Arnaud Clement.

Nalbandian won the last set 6-4

Hooray! That match was a tight tussle - either player could have won. Full credit to both players  Good to see Nalbandian scraping through with the win. Ferrer at one stage did gain the break back in the 5th set, but Nalbandian immediately broke back.

quite easy in the end.

6-3, 6-4, 6-1

Curiour, the dickhead, was saying he ranked Hewitt 3rd. I'd rank him first, at least he played someone of note and not some crappy new players or hasbeens like the other 4.

Yeah, despite the straight sets result, I thought it was quite an entertaining match. Quite impressed with Lleyton Hewitt's serve - he has definitely improved on that aspect of his game. A good start to his Australian Open campaign - let's hope it continues. His second round opponent is James Blake.
