I'm looking forward to the Wayne Arthurs v. Thomas Johansson match tomorrow (I'm unsure whether it will be televised though). I think Lleyton Hewitt plays in the afternoon session on Centre Court against Arnaud Clement. Go Wayne and Lleyton! :D Imagine if they both won their respective matches, they will face each other in the quarter final! (Although, I'm expecting to see Thomas Johansson to prevail).

I have a feeling the Kooyong Classic (should be very entertaining judging by the players that will be competing in that tournament) is televised on Channel 10 in the morning - so perhaps we will only see the afternoon session of the Medibank International matches on Centre Court. I'm not really sure - I suppose we'll know for certain tomorrow morning.

What Channel 7 did last year was generally show one match from Sydney, 2 from Kooyoong, then go back to Sydney if there was time.

I'd prefer they stick with Sydney, because though I still watch, I'd rather watch official tournaments rather than exhibitions.

The wildcards (all Aussies unless otherwise specified)

Main Draw

1-Evie Dominkovic
2-Cindy Watson
3-Sania Mirza (Asia somewhere)
4-Capucine Rousseau (FRA)
5-Tiffany Welford
6- Sophie Ferguson
7-Casey Dellacqua
8-Monique Adamczak

Qualifying

1-Adriana Szili
2-Jaslyn Hewitt (should be a maindraw wildcard)
3-Dubravka Cupac
4-Daniella Dominikovic
5-Olivia Lukaczwicz
6-Lauren Breadmore
7-Shayna McDowell (deserves maindraw over Tiffany and Monique)
8-Michaela Krajicek (NED)

If before Friday morning when the draw is done another 10 players withdraw from the AO who are ranked ahead of Evie (unlikely though) then Evie gets direct entry, so doesn't need her wildcard, so a qualifier wildcard will be upgraded to maindraw and will leave a free qualifying wilcard. But knowing Tennis Australia they'll give it to Christina H or Tyra or someone else who doesn't deserve it.

What should have happened

Tiffany and Monique back to Qualifying wilcards and Jaslyn and Shayne up to maindraw wildcards. Dump Olivia from qualifying wildcards and if it's to be another Aussie then Lara or Christina W should get it. Probably Lara.

Sam Stosur won the first set against Tatianna Golovin 6-2

Keep going Sam. Good work

They've stuck that match on Court 6 for some reason. That definitely should be a centre court match.

alicia molik will be bundled out of the Oz open in round 2-3. She talks herself up way toooooo much for my liking.

You're multi should be fine. Most places (SportOdds and SportsTAB do) if the match doesn't finish the bet is cancelled and in the case of a multi-bet that match is removed and the odds recalculated. But your tournament bet is gone.

Sam won in three 6-2 4-6 6-2

Wow, that is a terrific effort. Congratulations Sam! She now faces number 1 seed and world number 1 Lindsay Davenport in the quarter final. Hopefully, it'll be a Centre Court encounter so we will be able to watch her play live. You would assume it to be. It will definitely be a challenging match for her, but it will be great to see how she matches it with a very experienced opponent. Go Sam! :D

For instance? I can't exactly comment as I haven't seen any interviews nor read any transcripts for that matter.

If Alicia remains injury-free, I think she'll progress quite well at the Australian Open. She's been playing fantastic so far this year. Then again, it really depends upon the draw.

Joachim Johannson retired hurt in his match in Sydney. Hope he's okay for the AO
Very disappointing to hear that Joachim had to retire injured today. I hope it isn't anything too serious – what type of injury is it? It will be very unfortunate if he were to miss the Australian Open as a result, since I personally believe he would have performed extremely well there. I was also looking forward to a potential re-match against Lleyton Hewitt in the semi final. I suppose you would expect Lleyton Hewitt to triumph in this tournament now (unless, god forbid, he sustains an injury), especially with the departure of Carlos Moya, and now Joachim Johansson.

It will probably be a night match which means we won't get it until 10:30pm (3 hours delayed for NSW residents and 4 hours for QLD residents).

Oh, that is terrible Mick! :( That must be so damn frustrating. I hope he is fit for the Australian Open. I do hope you didn't outlay too much of your money this morning.

Hamstring, which isn't good because they can take a while to get over. Although he did hurt it yesterday in training and tried to play today so it might not be that bad.

Yes Hewitt now

:( I wanted to watch it live. I do hope the match is scheduled during the day so that there is a possibility it will be televised (unless the Kooyong Classic prevents that from happening). I haven't seen Sam play at all this year (apart from highlights on the news).

Oh, that doesn't sound good at all :( Hopefully, he has a speedy recovery. It must be so disheartening to sustain an injury during training, especially so close to a Grand Slam event - that's just awful!
