As far as my relocation post went.. ppl slighty favored to not relocate the Sharks despite a very fair amount of ppl for them to stay.
In fact if you take out the Sharks fans votes for them to not be relocated
then it would have been a landslide for them in favor of relocation.

Just out of interest.. How would ppl feel if the option of axeing the Sharks
from the league to make way for Perth Reds?

Dont get upset ppl.. just theorising possibillities..
How would you feel if the Storm moved to Gosford? How much venom would you spit at the author of that thread?

simostorm, the result of an unwanted teen pregnancy and drug abuse..

how long till school holidays are over?
The ironuc thing is that it sounds like he was concieved on the hill at Shark Park

no, don't want to see any fans lose their team so we can have one! Happened to us so the Storm could exist and its not a nice thing.

LOL - WHAT??????????

A month ago you wanted Penrith punted ffs!!!!!!!!!!

A week ago you were sacrificing Sydney teams for a team in Beijing!!!!!!!!!

Get off the hate the sharks bandwagon... its over crowded.

Your "refute" showed you have no clue where the club is headed and that in a nutshell is Cronulla's problem, no one cares enough to question the management and where the club is headed. Everything I put up as information came from links provided in the Sharks forum on this very website, not that hard for you to go back and read the articles in that forum, probably a good thing for you to educate yourself about your club.

Anway, as far as I am concerned, Cronulla deserves everything that is coming to them and you won't be missed.

so your basing your evidence on news articles, yeah cause journo's tell the truth and nothing but the truth

no one cares enough to question the management and where the club is headed.

WRONG

if you payed any attention and not pull BS out of your arse, you would have noticed the new board [thats a good looking board, people who actually know how to run a business]..certain people did care about the future of the club and stood up against the old boys club at the board election, one of the "new breed" is now the chairman and a f**king good one at that

Yeah, you put that head back in the sand. Everything's fine at the Sharks, and their future is assured.

As I said, why not have a read of when the money will be coming in from the development (well when it's proposed to be ready, it's a long time away and anything can happen to delay it even more).

Why not read your own forum, plenty of discussions regarding how little you spend on and off the field. I ain't making this stuff up, and I don't care to troll through your forum looking for the information again. I was interested to see what the future held for Cronulla, and what I found out about the club made me believe that unless things turn around very quickly, they will be lucky to last 2 more seasons.

They need 2 things to survive, a good season on the field (well one where they at least stay mid table all season), and a major sponsor fast. No off field incidents would be a bonus.

This topic had been done over and over and won't seem to go away.

The fact is there are too many clubs in Sydney for them all to be viable. The Brisbane Broncos are the only team in a city of nearly 2 million. In Sydney, with a population of 4 million, there are NINE different teams. Assuming the number of people who are interested enough in league to follow their local team is the same in Brisbane and Sydney, that leaves a MUCH smaller potential fanbase for each Sydney team.

My preference is for the Reds to be included in the comp WITHOUT axing any teams - so what, you only play 9 double up matches instead of 10 per season. Not the end of the world, and you don't need to extend the club season either.

Having said that, I think in the long term interests of the game, some of the Sydney clubs need to merge or die. Relocation won't work, because residents of new areas simply won't accept a rejected Sydney club.

It has been proven that Sydney has twice the attendance levels per head of population than Brisbane.

People want Cronulla punted because they ASSUME they will fall over. Well, surprise surprise, they haven't yet!

I cannot fathom this "move Cronulla to perth" argument. Cronulla has lasted 42 years. Perth lasted 2. I know which distroct can sustain a NRL side better, and it isn't in that AFL town on the other side of the Nullabor.

Gosford is getting the Bears before Perth ever gets another side anyway.

And I laugh at a Dogs fan berating Cronulla for off field indiscretions!

* Sharks have no major sponsor at this point.
true. but its not even 2010 yet. give the new guys time to f**k up like the last lot. LG saw a chance to save soem money on the back of what happened in 2002, which makes the greg bird decision even more perplexing.
* The development was forecast to bring in approx $5mil a year profit (whether this is net or gross I am not sure). This is to go to the Leagues club rather than the football club. They expect money to start coming in approx 5 years time.
true. however without the footy club what point is the leagues club?

Sharks spend the least on and off the field of any NRL club.
this is true. times are tight. this is a reason to boot them?

* The highest Sharks season average was 16281 in 2005. Though the second highest was 13974 back in 1999. Crowds have been pretty poor even when you had a good year on the field in 2008 you still only averaged 12965.
yes. there was steady decrease in crowds in each of TTG's seasons in the shire with one random spike (likely because it was the first finls season since 02). management decisions on players and coaches took the club from one of the most exciting to watch in 01, to the worst in 03. 2008 we played boring football that won games due to th way the game was being plyed at the time. it was hrd to watch.
* One of the lowest amounts of Season ticket holders in the comp.
the new board has made this a top priority. wether we ever do re connect with the community remains to be seen. they were succesful in getting my money so i guess that counts for something.

* League's club owes St George bank approx $8-9mil. St George previously has been close to foreclosing the loan. What may some more interest rate rises do to pressure on the leagues and football club operations?
its only 9 million.
is it the leagues club or th footy club?

* Have been bailed out of debt previously. Why should the NRL do it again when the club struggles to get any kind of support outside of it's own area.

they wont. they want us gone. however they need 16 teams for the tv rights deal.theyre praying we fall over with enough time to get the bears up and running. but they wont kick us out. the backlash from souths was enough to eliminate this option.

I can't see anyone signing on to sponsor your club unless you go well on the field. Has the NRL assisted you to get a sponsor with Free to Air games in the first few rounds like they have the Roosters? Just remember, out of sight, out of mind.

You guys need a major sponsor if you are to survive, and they need to pay their way, not a cut price one that devalues sponsorships for all the other clubs.

Plenty of Leagues clubs that don't support NRL clubs. Their is junior league after all. Maybe you can become the St George feeder club.

Sharks spend the least on and off the field of any NRL club.

The point is that they can't cut back costs anymore than they already have. No one is going to boot them. The club will fold, and their is no reason to save them.

A lot of it is to do with the location of the ground, and the fact that it isn't the greatest ground to attend in the first place. Crowds are very important to your club, and I can't see how your club can grow to the required 20K that every club will need to average in another 10 years or so.

* One of the lowest amounts of Season ticket holders in the comp.

Proof will be in the pudding. Will be interested to see what sort of response they do get to the membership drive.

The Leagues club, which feeds money to the Football club. Though with the pokies taxes biting even harder, Cronulla the football club is going to need to learn how to survive on it's own two feet.

* Have been bailed out of debt previously. Why should the NRL do it again when the club struggles to get any kind of support outside of it's own area.

Yeah, they will support you enough to make it through the season, Central Coast I am sure will be happy enough to take over the following season. The NRL isn't silly, and neither is the Central Coast bid team who understand that their best hope to get admitted is at the expense of a Sydney club.
