he'd make an excellent lock, but he's not a centre. he simply doesn't have the pace.

Mick Cronnin ran like a draught horse yet he was one of the best centres of all time, so pace isnt every thing. Give him a fast finnishing winger with a football brain and the guy may have a chance to produce more points.
Ps.. i bet he has more line breaks to his name than Lawrence has ? Lawrence of coarse can turn his into points thru speed, but if Blake could offload they could also all be points.

the modern game is more skewed towards speedy centres; look at jennings, gasnier, hodges, inglis, j morris, etc.
besides, the tigers' style of play doesn't require backs with a lot of playmaking ability; it requires backs who can capitalise on the opportunities created by benji and robbie with their pace.
ayshford is a great player with a lot of potential but i hope it isn't wasted in the centres.

I agree - he has the ability to create opportunities, there is a place for everyones skills.

Or if Blake had someone who had speed who he could offload to, like Isaac Gordon or Sandor Earl, instead of Sleau Ryan...

Peni Tagive looks back to his best. He is very impressive on the right wing. He would go well outside Ayshford.

We have several players with speed to fulfill the role,, but we pick a TV celeb or a surigate forward . :(

Has the game changed a lot since 2005 .. we had Whatuira and Elford hardly speedsters,, and we were the hottest point scorers going.
I just think value for money particualy at the moment when we have to let players go i dont think we could ever beat Blake for value.. also we have matched and also beaten sides with the above players you have mentioned with Ayshford in our side. He has been down a little in defence at times but i believe the whole side has been as well on those occassions.

fair call, a speedy winger outside him would be handy; Blake just needs to learn how to pass to them

Another great game from Blake today, man of match performance. Looking to be more than just a solid player and today also looked quicker than I thought he was. Good things to come IMO.

Hope that shuts up his knockers. Also a great ball to Marshall debunks the "he can't pass" talk...

I cant get to the games, he doesn't look that quick on the telly, but he certainly leaves them behind when he gets going.
Maybe he reads Westie's post to pump himself up for the games:lol:

I'm one of his biggest knockers. I don't rate him. But he has suprised me the last two weeks with very impressive performances.

I gave Lui a wrap when he put two really good games together earlier in the season too... Blake's got to put together a string of high level games for me to convert but he's made a good start.

Manu failed to make any ground on him and lost ground in the chase. Manu is pretty quick for a big unit which appears to indicate Ayshford has deceptive pace. He also has the uncanny gift of being able to beat a man and is difficult to pull down. Well done.
