Anyone saying Hayne is at fault for the incident on the weekend, I suggest you don't comment unless you saw the incident. If I was the refrees boss I'd have that ref sacked

It happened literally right in front of where I was sitting, and yes the penalty shoukd have been blown before it got that far, but Hayne should still have had the self control not to throw the ball at the other player.

Spot on.

Yes the refs were shit, just like they were last year when Hayne retaliated against the Bulldogs. That doesn't change the fact that the man who was penalised was Jarryd Hayne, and the team that was made to pay for it was the Eels.

I think it's awesome that a player was penalised for retaliating after he'd already won the penalty. I wish it happened every time. The fact it doesn't is the fault of the ref's boss, but maybe they've made this decision over the off-season. Hopefully that's how they'll rule it this year.

I don't know why Cleary would instruct his players to bait Hayne in a trial match. Not sure what benefit they get out of it.

I suspect it would have been one of Penrith's senior players that encouraged this tactic. The benefit is the simple pleasure of getting one over one of the game's best players.

hayne getting penalised for ill discipline is one thing but what about the panthers blatantly breaking the rules and getting off scott free? not even a warning thats piss weak refereeing as far as im concerned

Yeah it is but I don't care about the refs; I care about the Parra players.

You have to account for the refs being shit and that means not giving them any extra excuses to f**k you over.

I didn't see the incident but from what I've read about it here I think Hayne should have knocked the merkins out with a bit of help from whoever else was near the play.
We need more mongrel. Not softcocks turning the other cheek.

Fire up boys!

tempting thought but how is hayne copping a 2 week suspension going to help us?

Definitely one way of looking at it.

But what we really want is an average - replaceable - player dishing out the physical warnings. That way we don't really miss him when he gets suspended.

i nominate justin poore if he's going to be out injured half the time he might as well make a difference while he's playing and if he gets suspended and injured at the same time who cares he wouldnt be playing anyway :D

I don't get this myth that Poore is injury prone. Sure he suffered a serious injury last year, but prior to that he barely missed a game since his first grade debut.

i care about the parra players too i care about them being f**ked over by cheats because the refs arent doing their job

This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really cannot believe some of the comments posted here. I suppose next time someone tries to break Hayne's jaw (Payne) and the ref does nothing, he should just cop it that it's allowed to happen to him. Ask yourself how 99% of the players would have reacted and you'll see that hayne is no different, sorry he is, in the Payne incident he should have knocked his block off instead of kissing him.

Let the match review committee take care of it. If you can get up, play the ball.

thats the problem in a nutshell he couldn't get up because some fat gimp in a panthers jersey wouldn't get off him

p.s. does the match review committee even look at stuff like this? i thought they were only after acts of foul play missed by the refs like head high tackles, dangerous throws etc etc
