I wouldnt worry about a trial.Paulo is a solid player and could push for first grade quite easily.Very good defender too. Always rated him at penrith
Morgan hasnt got a lot of flare but he is solid iin defense and can finish-i think wing is his best spot thou

If he's solid in defence I reckon centre is his spot no matter how ordinary he is in attack.

I disagree. A winger's defence need to be as strong and as aware as a centre's.
I also reckon Morgan is a better winger.
I saw him make a break last year playing centre and when it came to draw and pass, he didn't have a clue. As a winger, it's normally just put your head down, and run, son.

If that was the case there would be fewer poor defenders playing on the wing.

One-on-one defence (and at least some speed off the mark) are the primary requirements of an NRL centre.

Wingers need to be able to offer something in attack, as well as chase and defend kicks.

I also reckon Morgan is a better winger.

He definitely looks like he would be just as good on the wing. Maybe doesn't offer enough out of dummy half.

I think anyone who makes a break should be able to draw and pass, and that includes wingers. But better than throwing a shit pass and losing possession is taking the tackle.

Good passing ability is nice for centres to have but unlike the old days it's not essential.

It's like kornstar downplaying anything Roberts does well because he wants Hayne to wear 6.

Thanks for speaking for me!

Tell me where I said I want Hayne in the number 6?

Roberts made a spectacular break and then offloaded to Hayne who dropped it cold! After that we hardly had any attacking ball.......I was more concerned with his defence, the second try he was stood up badly. It happened a few times in the game.

Tbh we played boring footy the last 2 weeks but that may be foxing or combination building, I am sure there is a plan and I have seen us win too many trials to judge our season form on them!

Can someone else give me their take on the penalty against Hayne? The penrith players were all over him, then someone pushed him back down and of course Penrith got the penalty?

Refs were very ordinary after that......

Pretty sure he first penalised the panthers for being all over him, then after the scuffle he reversed the decision.

Throwing the ball at them probably wasn't smart.

The dog pushed him back down when he was trying to get up, so he should retaliate!

As long as the refs are consistent and do the same on every ocassion, they are very good at their jobs, so I am sure they will......

Yeah, when was the last time we saw a penalty reversed by a ref like that for only throwing the ball. They just give you a talking to every time. Still, it was a trial so the interpretations pretty much go out the window.

I'm with you. Discipline is overrated. Giving away stupid penalties with the ball, after already receiving a penalty thus effectively resulting in an 80m turn around, is underrated.

What a load of shit, they were baiting him all game, if the referees actually did their job properly and blew the penalty earlier, there would not have even needed to be a push!!!

They were all over him in that tackle and the fact the refs let them hold him down for so long only added to the frustration.........then he pushes him over and Hayne expressed his frustration.........the ball should have been thrown at the ref as ultimately (just like the Bulldogs incident last year) the ref was to blame for not doing his job properly!!!!!!

They are the biggest blight on the game at the moment and from the games I have seen so far, they ain't getting better, only worse!!!!

As I said though, as long as the refs reverse the penalty every time a ball is thrown in frustration (which is at least once a game) this year there is no problem......

Stephen Rodger Waugh called it mental disintegration.

In rugby league it is better known as ill discipline.

In mini and mod footy it's called not playing to the whistle.

In playgroup it's called being a brat.

So as always, the instigator is never to blame........always the reactor that is blamed.........that is the problem with society!

That's right. Hayne knows by now that teams are out to bait him - it happens to all the great players until they prove they're above it. So far he's done nothing but prove that he'll let grubby bullshit get under his skin.

He can't control the refs or the opposition, but he can control himself.
