Predictions Bears 2027 draw discussion

I know it’s 10 months or more until the 2027 draw is released, but how do we see the NRL setting up the Bears return?

For me there’s a few questions of the draw that will be interesting to see when the time comes:
  • Who they host in their first home game
  • When they play manly
  • If they get a NSO (or SFS) game, and who it’s against
  • Do they play a “home” trial? Or save the Perth debut for round 1. Redcliffe played in Cairns and Redcliffe for their two
  • Does the NRL boost Vegas crowds and send them as an away team for their debut?

I hope round 1 is in Perth. Perhaps against Manly. Hope they won’t play against Manly in their Sydney game. Perhaps if it’s part of that Indigenous round thing at the SFS.

youd think manly might be in sydney as its the game thatll cater most to their nsw contigency of fanbase.

phins played roosters. tits played dragons. no precedence.

so i'd go something random like
round 1 bears vs eels
manly during heritage round and sfs for more people
nso vs titans or cowboys. low away attending teams.

no to vegas. they need to be in australia for their first game.

Would manly be one of the 8 clubs they get to play twice though? The game would hopefully be a big event in Perth - round 2 or 3 maybe - and then again in Sydney later

The Reds last game was against was the Raiders and the Bears last was against the Cowboys, neither high drawing normally but if the Raiders have a big 2026 that could be nice opposition for Round 1 (in my view)

Hope not. Make the bastards travel.

Plenty of other options to face in Sydney.

if the game is at NSO. I’d rather play North Queensland. Cowboys were last team to play Norths at NSO also.

Pre season trial 1 Bunbury oval
Pre season trial 2 NS oval (practice away game routine and logistics)
Game 1 home double header at Optus Perth v Melbourne, Souths v Warriors
Game 2 Away v Roosters at Allianz
Game 3 home v St George at HBF (Reds first home game nod)

I just hope they can do a deal with other sydney clubs for a 5 or 6 game sydney membership for the 200k NS fans!

I'm agnostic re the Perth home game in Sydney. Manly at Allianz or V out of sydney team at ns oval probably makes most commercial sense.

Serious bruh???…
why would you waste the wahs one trip to Perth in a season to play in a DH against another club?… or are you suggesting the wahs make the longest trip in the NRL twice???…

I’d suggest the Wahs & Bears only play each other once a year, alternate which club travels. Should be a rarity that match up happened twice in a regular season.

If that scenario were to come to fruition, then Round 2 could be at HBF vs Warriors. Warriors can stay the extra few days and play two games here before returning home.

That would make sense, but nrl rarely makes sense when it comes to the draw.
Warriors could do some promotion work with large kiwi community in WA during the week.

Is that fair on the wahs?
I’m sure they’d be compensated!

in the Cumins interview last week he mentioned his preference was opening game at hbf. Build the bear den’ from game 1.

Personally disagree with him, the loss of atmosphere at Optus is worth it to get 10-20k more people to a bears game and hopefully then following the club imo.

I think it's a ploy from the club to sell memberships .
'To guarantee your seat at the first game you'll need to become a member'.
Once they get over 20k they'll say they had to move to optus due to demand

And De Ceglie said the same before that

Take it to the bank I reckon ….

Hopefully the draw includes specific away games to offer a 5 or 6 game Sydney membership and a 2 game Brisbane membership

sydney membership
home game at Allianz v dragons or manly ( if we must)
then away games
roosters and souths (Allianz)
Bulldogs and Wests (Accor)
Eels (Commbank)

Brisbane membership
Broncos and Dolphins (Suncorp)

not sure how many ns fans there really, are and how many will buy memberships in Sydney and brisbane, but if we get 5,000 across the two cities it’s pretty good to add to our total.

Wests won’t be playing at Accor next season( that game would be at Commbank or Campbelltown ) and I don’t see them playing 3 games at Allianz.., likely a game at Gosford I would suggest to tap into old bears fans from the CC area and Hornsby… still leaves 5 others for Sydney

@Red&BlackBear literally laid it out days ago

WA home membership packages for the east coast Bears members could include accomodation and flights as part of the package.

The away membership packages likely to be available as all Sydney based away games, some (approx 4) Sydney based away games and 3 SE QLD based away games (dependant on the draw and how many times Bears come to SE QLD vs. Broncos, Titans and Dolphins).
