The mega hopping craze needs to stop. It's ridiculous. The only reason to hop something that heavily is to hide something.

Not sure it is a 'craze' mate. Heavily hopped beers have been going strong in the States for a long time. Perhaps the way Aus had embraced it in recent years has made it appear that way.

However, you are right to an extent. I see a lot of people who's only idea of craft beer is an IPA. I am sure that are having a great time exclusively drinking IPAs. For me though there are so many amazing styles of beer that I would hate to have to limit myself to one.

In the last 5 years or so, the number of insanely hopped beers has exploded. There's a time and a place, and now it seems that it's everywhere.

Malty brews deserve more respect!

Malty beers are far too heavy imo. Good for a post work glass but not a session.

Tassie generic tap beers are solid enough. Boags and Cascade Draught have helped me wash diwn several meals. Clean easy drinkers

Moo Brew is overrated

Had a pretty fine sparkling mead over the weekend.

Was also pleasantly surprised to find Glen Innes pubs stocking something other than XXXX, VB, Carlton, or Tooheys.

Since I'm broke as f**k for the next 25 years, I've been hitting the Aldi beers recently to find a favourite. Only one I've missed so far is the Storm Pale Ale. So here goes:

- Fraser Briggs Premium Lager: made to look like a knock off of Boags Premium. It doesn't taste like Boags, but it's a solid lager.

- Sainte Etienne: looks like a knock off of Stella Artois, tastes like the urine of a Stella drinker.

- Storm Super Dry: pick of the drinks. Clean, crisp, inoffensive.

I've decided with my tassie trip that Boags premium is piss tbh. I don't know what Tooheys have done to it but it's deadset awful now

storm pale ale is the pick of the bunch..

probably closer to a lager than an ale (like cascade pale ale) but a good drop for the $$$$

the pick of the aldi regular beers was the shipstone's crew amber ale.. Wasn't too far off the James squire amber ale..

that being said, aldi are bringing in two swingtop beers this week, a pilsener and a wheat beer..

both are top shelf.. I'll be stocking up, and i recommend you guys buy at least a 6pack of each..
