Panhead had a good run there for a while, but once the Lion takeover was confirmed a lot of venues dropped them. Can’t say I’ve heard of the other one.

18 months ago I spent a couple of weeks in NZ, had tried Pan Head over there but didn't have Tuatara until December when I found it in a First Choice outlet in Wollongong, these are very hoppy beers with the new age of Nelson Sauvin Hops that are similar to the hops to what are used in the American Ales.
I love all types of Lagers, Pils, Ales but the beers I enjoy most are beers that are hopped with the Noble Hops, European hops give the best aroma and bittering characteristics while the new age hops just have bitterness, it all comes down to price and the proliferation of the American style Pale Ales.
I can buy Brok at my local Dan Murphy's and it's not that bad of a drop but need more info on Praga?.

There’s your problem - dan murhpy’s and first choice.

If you want to try some good beers, find yourself a good boutique shop with a big range..

Can’t really comment on the Praga as I tipped most of it on the onions on the bbq, did have a quick swig but wasn’t overly impressed, still have a few more so will give it a proper taste and let you know, it is a Liquorland badged beer so you can only get it through Liquorland, not sure whether First Choice or Vintage Cellars stock it as part of the Coles umbrella.

i actively avoid any beers by the major grocers, either their own label or ones they've imported themselves..

Praga is fine, clean and easy. Much better than Becks or Stella.

As a serious enough wine drinker I have a love/hate relationship with the big chains (which is a strange stance given I work for one, but a mortgage is more important than opinion) but both import/brew some very decent beers for very decent money...In fact I'd say the exclusive badged brands are easily the best thing about both majors.

Given I've gone back to being a full time student I'd much rather pay $45 odd for a case of Radeberger or Praga than $60 odd for Aussie Heineken...and in terms of wine, forget it. $8 Aradon Rioja or Borsao Tocado leaves a $15 Taylors Shiraz for dead.

Yes I know where your coming from, I work for one of the big chains too, I had forgotten about Radeberger, we have a couple of regulars who buy a case but we sell more just by six pack, the Praga sold wells six pack wise but seeing it wasn’t a core line we stopped ordering it but it came up as spend get the other week so have it back in stock., nearby to wear I live a place called the liquor emporium has all the proper import beers at a great price, generally cheaper than the Aussie made equivalents and also most of the wine and spirit specials cheaper than Liquorland. I agree about the Aragon Rioja being a good drop especially for the price, I just get sick of churning out the bottles of Lindermans bin range or the Jamiesons Run Graziers Run range for $5 or $6 on special.

Liquor Emporium are one of the main parallel importers here in NSW, so they will almost always have the imported international beers. Though these days it seems to be limited to most of Lion & Coopers international brands.

The Praga went down well while cooking the bbq, nice and clean and I just put a splash on the onions and kept the rest for myself, now I have the other Liquorland Christmas to try, Lorry Boys Bright lager.

A mate gave me a stubbie of this thing called Bishops Finger the other day.

Now I know where the bishop stuck his finger and dipped it into some water to make beer.

Absolutely horrid.

We work for the same chain.

Ex Premium Product Manager here, but the blue company is going down the toilet and when that claimed my store I stood down and went red.

They get a hell of a lot wrong with the exclusive lines (WTF is the need for six million NZ Savs that are made by the same people and taste identical??) but they do get a lot of good stuff for a steal. Pretty much all the exclusive beers are decent at worst.

It's criminal, but I've been guzzling Blue Moon here. It's just so cheap and it's so much better than the average macrobrew like Bud, Coors, Heineken etc.

Nothing wrong with Blue Moon IMO. Like you say, way better than the usual boring lagers. I actually really like it as a session beer....a proper Belgian white is a beautiful thing, but try drinking more than two or three Hoegaardens without losing your lower intestine.
