Mac if the figure is in the $200k relm, that implies to me (I,m not convinced by the contract upgrade argument) that the club has decided to resign the likes of Perry, Hall, Price and maybe Hughes albeit at reduced contracts. Looking at it from a reality perspective they are going to the free agents list in 3 weeks time, with a new recruitment officer (no experience) to promote a club in crisis with any number of publicised problems and no long term financial guarentee of existence- on balance of probabilty, there would NOT be much interest form free players/managers so it would be the easy (and in my view VERY WRONG) for the Knights to stick with the duds that they already have. I truely hope that this does not eventuate but sad to say, I smell it in the air!!

Did anyone else see tonight's game. I think Keith Galloway is off contract, and he's definitely got the right combination of mongrel and skill to make an impact at our squad. Still only young too, so he's got room to improve.

VOR Unfortunately I think you are right on the money with this post. We wont (as you point out) attract any quality players, and we may have no choice than to hang onto these blokes. I don't see the club management doing anything more to improve our present situation this year, and I have the feeling they are just trying to see the year out, and hope something comes along in the off season with regards to sponsors. That seems to me to be the way they operate, and prob have for the last few years. I also think it wont be too long before our team performances are reflected in game attendances. There is just nothing coming out of the clubs management to give the fans any encouragement, just the same old same old.

The real problem with this is that this screams to potential sponsors and the like that the club is satisfied with what they have and are making no active changes to change course to where they are going. It also suggests that any change to the club and structure wont really happen until 2006 - which in a way isn't necessarily a bad thing because that is when the core of our non-performers, and more importantly, Andrew Johns come off contract.

The best we can hope for is if we perhaps attract someone who is keen to sign for a year to keep their options open for 2007 when the Gold Coast enter the competition. A hired gun wouldn't be that bad a thing to be honest...

We should look at all the other clubs Jersey Flegg Players and sign as many of them up we can for 3 years @ $40,000 a season. So if one in 5 become top shelf players .. we have a $200,000 a year player for just $40,000. The alternative if Mac is right about the $200,000 in total to spend for 2006 we will get the spoon again next season then no star players will want to sign with us for 2007 or like the Bunnies we will need $6.5M to attract 2 star players cause our club sux so bad likes Souths.

Muzza has been great for Parra so yeah I've got no problem giving Burt back to Newcastle.

Burt isn't a bad player but Parra have a lot of better options.

We got to look at Fleggies, there';s no way we can get good 1st graders for anything less than 250k a year considering we paid 220k a year for a benchy last year.

A few names

McConkie Tauasa-winger from roosters flegg
David Shillington-Prop from roosters PL
Weller Hauraki-2nd rower prop from parra
Marcus Perenara-5/8th, halfback, lock from parra PL
Tom Learoyd Lahrs-Prop from broncos who would be quicker than all of our outside backs
Jamie Frizzo-centre from dogs PL

I've heard rumours that we may be making a play for John Morris and Ashley Graham. Not sure how valid they are, but they're both out of favour at Parra

Whoever gave you the info that Morris is out of favour has NFI.

He has played every game this year, is talking to the club to re-sign and has surprised a lot of people with his form at 5/8.

Graham on the other hand.........

you can take him
and I'll even throw in Luke Burt for free if you call within the next 30 mins and use your credit card

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have two immensely talented young five eighths in Blake Green and Marcus Perenara coming through? Where will his 'favour' be when one of those two is ready for a crack at first grade?
