Bellamy - "St George is the benchmark"

In the presser Bellamy said that Saints were the benchmark of the competition. Mary was all smiles when he heard this.

Is Bellyache just foxing and gladly trying to put the pressure off them and on to the Saints? I think yes so they should not buy into this.

The Storm are still the benchmark and will come good. They are the current champions and until they are out of the running for this years titles should still be the benchmark.

Foxing mate.

We are going great guns at the minute, and credit to all, but Bellyache knows what he's doing.

They,... and I think Chooks will be there deep into September.

I actually didnt mind Mary's response. Basically, said that nice to hear, but we have a way to go.

And to remain " gounded"..

Anyway, IMHO, mind games by Melbourne.

He kept saying "at the moment" though...

Foxing big time
Bellamy will back his mob to have a much better completion rate next time.
He reckons he's got us covered.
The answer - smash there forwards - if we can.
Get that job done and you have a chance of beating them.

Never believe what Bellamy or want to be Ref Cam Smith have to say.

They are deflecting the media attention from them to us by adding media pressure and higher expectations from the so call media experts.

We need to fly under the radar and avoid all the bullshit talk.

If our team read and believe this crap talk from these cheats then they will become complacent and fall into the down ward spiral.

Yes we are the benchmark and will continue to be as long as we continue to improve. Don't worry, the Storm did not miss the fact that they scored their only three tries down our left edge - and it was easy. I just don't understand why they did not go that way more often.

We need to make major adjustment on our right edge and if we don't, we will have every team targeting that right edge until the end of the season. My solution is:
Mann to right centre
Lomax to right wing
Aitken as bench utility - same role as Mann has been doing
Nightingale to ISP.

This right edge will have the speed and defensive skills needed to address the right edge problems. Both players will add to the teams ability to continue to remain on top of the ladder.

Of course he is foxing, the chap will do and say anything to gain the slightest advantage over his opponents . That big target has been on our backs now for a number of weeks and shall continue to grow with each win , however it does not appear to be affecting the team one iota.
This Dragon outfit is totally different to the ones of the past few years - the self belief and confidence in their own ability is tremendous. That plus the new signings and the army veteran who has been assisting them has worked wonders for the squad , keep the good work up boys . :innocent:

Bloody oath we are the benchmark and the boys should be proud of it.
Agreed. The challenge has been set to erase last years fade out & we have started with the intent to do so.
For me, we have won in a few different ways be it, blowing teams away, coming from behind or holding on for grim life. That’s miles away from last year. Goods signs & I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

I'm as excited as you are LG.

But a benchmark, we are not..... yet

Of course as at round 9 we are by far the best in the NRL. But a benchmark for me carries more weight. It means a sustained performance over a longer period of time. Doesnt mean we need to win each game, but we need to show the same resilience over the course of more than 9 rounds.

So far, so good..

That’s a great point about resilience. The ability to keep their heads hasn’t been tested too much so far this year. It will be for sure & how we respond will determine where we really stand.
They deserve credit for how they are going but I sense they are not getting ahead of themselves & Mary deserves praise for keeping things in check.

Well said Tru , Melbourne have been the bench mark for the last couple of years , not after 8 wins ....
