Bell's wisdom

I heard Jim Doyle on the radio this morning - Wow he could be just what we need. He has ordered the warriors already not to hire any new staff without his approval and arrival at HQ. Looks like the warriors completely jumped the gun in announcing Cappy's new soon to be staff on board.

He also said while he plays a minimal role he will be discussing our recruitment with Cappy also. No mention of Bell.

Daniel Anderson was the last coach who knew how bring on and use young talent. Clearly was ok. the others plods.

Look at Cleary's 2011 team, he unearthed plenty of our young talent
Otherwise true, although its still fairly early days for McFadden

I left Cleary off as he seemed be much more cautious to do it with us. At Penrith he really has become a complete coach and gives the young guys much more license to perform, the way they are playing for him is incredible.

Experience (which he has more of) will do that... him leaving was a disgrace

I am a Gould fan, and I wouldn't underestimate his role in Cleary and Penrith's development

Agree 100% with that. I have never "got" the Gould hate one little bit, and he appears to be directing Ivan in a very successful direction.

I think a lot could be to do with jealousy.

Again not sure about that, under Cleary's watch we saw Locke, Matulino, Taylor, Packer, Brown, Johnson all emerge. And (other than Johnson who has remained consistent) they all played a hell of a lot better under him than with the coaches that followed. Almost the entire 2011 team was home grown.

Its a shame we let him go, the hilarious part is that on radio sport yesterday McFadden said something along the lines of Cleary is the type of coach he's aspiring to be.

john hart was our gus gould

Hmm, dunno - on one level - the organisational culture stuff

But Gould has a league brain of the highest order - he'd be a superb sounding board for a developing or established coach... while he didn't keep coaching like Bennett, his teams (Dogs, Penrith, NSW and Souths as a player) were testament to his strategic and coaching ability - and combined with that he has Graham Lowe's ability to inspire individuals... Admittedly, I am a Gould fan, I know not everyone is...

Gould's commentary is god awful (the whole Rabs shtick is painful) but as a footy manager, he's without peer.

I don't know what John Hart brought to the table in general but I know he fought tooth and nail to keep Ivan, and that's all I need to hear.

I would enjoy Goulds commentary more if he stopped constantly trying to push his own barrow...which often does an about-turn the next week.

This

Ray Warren totally gets under my skin with his ignorance to pronouncing surnames correctly. You would think being paid a million bucks a year you would show sum respect :?

His radio show is hiddious

I heard Cappy on Telfer's show this morning and he basically said that Tony Iro could be in the running as an assistant coach.

Channel 9 used to be very good once.
Rabs was a good front man calling the play while Sterlo and Gus would provide quality insight/comments

Things have changed though... Rabs is bored, tired, misses things and gets names wrong (Greg Eastwood is NOT Greg Inglis)

Sterlo isn't around anymore and is usually replaced with a muppet, leaving only Gus who is still good but Rabs keeps baiting him (while usually wrong) and the two go off on their rants

Best bit about Gus is that he isn't afraid to call a spade a spade, whether its diving, a ridiculous call etc. Also sticks up for the Warriors while the rest pretend things don't happen. I'm a fan.

Channel 9 are still better than Fox though, which is basically three Halligans

So Wayne Scurrah was interviewed by Radio Sports and was playing on Darcy Waldegraves's show between 4 and 5pm today. Only heard a snippet in the 4 o'clock news but basically Scurrah has same standards as Bell. When he started 9 years ago he said we were cheating the cap and consistently in the bottom 4. So 9th isn't so bad as a comparison.
He did say the club screwed it up with letting Cleary though, so at least he admits that.

Consistantly in the bottom 4?????????

Weve been there once in his term and that was 04

He didn't replace Watson till start of 2006 season.
2004 and 2005 we were in the bottom 4 and in his first year in charge (2006)we were 10th of 15 due to the salary cap breaches of the Watson era.
