Are there any rules on what a player can do and can not do while serving a suspension ?

Siv, you'd invariably find that most players that serve suspensions would be contracted to a club + ratified by the NRL.

They would then be subject to a raft of clauses that come standard with every NRL contract i would believe.

I must be really upsetting you
You keeping mentioning me in your posts.

Ever seen a game French rugby?
Me either.
I couldn't name one player that isn't an Aussie.

....

Can you seriously not comprehend the difference between competition for viewers and competition for talent?

Because French RU are sure-as-s**t competition for the NRL in terms of talent - because of, you know, the massive skill overlap. And the examples of NRL players being lured over there for the money.

Yes, that does make them competitors.

(oh, and FYI yes you can watch French RU on Aussie TV.. Top 14 has been on Foxtel for years, and might have even had a season on one of the FTA digital secondaries a while back..)

I think you'll see I commented right at the start that Australian rugby is a rival code .

French rugby on te other hand is hardly the mob to bring it all crashing down.

I couldn't name 5 current wallabies and never ever watch AUS rugby so by your logic its not a competitor either, so I guess we are both wrong if we apply your ridiculous logic.

Anyway I appreciate the banter fellas but my boss is giving me dirty looks so i'm out, its been real.

Yeah mate but Carcharias has never watched it so they aren't a competitor of the NRL, you know because that's how you measure it

You can also add that beInSports broadcast a number of Union's club competitions, including the European Rugby Champions Cup and the European Rugby Challenge Cup. beInSports now have 3 channel which are carried on Foxtel.

How many players from Australia are there now?

And let's be serious here
Compared to fair dinkum rivals
Like AFL , soccer and rugby here in Australia , French rugby is a long dead distant last .
It's not even s pimple on the arse of AFL .

it's all about people watching the game here not about 3 or so ex players going over there .

Again
I've never seen French rugby on tv here.
I'd change the channel to a cooking show or something a little more exciting if I did accidentally land on it anyway.

I don't get why so many Sharks fans have their panties bunched over this - in reality, Barba is the one who has screwed them...

- Done for recreational drug use as a result of a team function, bringing bad publicity to their club and culture (although in comparison to their past drug issues, its still a step in the right direction).
- Gets himself suspended for 12 weeks, and consequently removed from the club (regardless of the details of the arrangement).
- Walks out from the club for good to bugger of to union after trying to work around the system.

I know the term 'victim' is a bit fluid over in the shire, but if that happens at most other clubs, the fans would ve filthy at the player.

Panties aren't in bunch, disappointed to lose a quality player, but no more than any other club losing a good player. We've just been arguing semantics all day.

And you sir are 100% right Barba screwed himself, will work out ok for the Sharks, should be able to hold onto the other younger promising players.

It's a bit like dragons fans who against all common sense still support Mundine.

Yes, Barba screwed himself. If he was as concerned as he was about having to support 4 young children, as he said in his statement yesterday, where was that concern when he took the blow last year, knowing full well he was subject to compulsory drug testing which could lead to disciplinary proceedings which could result in suspension or (potentially) him losing his job completely.

Come on mate
He had just won the comp
( sharks won the premiership )
A line of coke after 10 beers was by far the only option anyone should take.
I would've done it as well.
Shit, I've done it and not even won anything as an excuse.

Don't mean jack if he had won a comp or not, NRL players know they are subjected to drug testing and what the potential punishments are.

Also, doesn't sound like you're in a job subject to compulsory drug testing as part of your conditions of employment like NRL players are.

That probably slipped his mind in the euphoria of winning the title.

I'm a rock star
It is encouraged .

Channel 9 are still the official broadcast rights holder for the NRL are they not?

The fact is no one bats an eyelid about Johns being involved in the league media and yes he was arrested for possession of ecstasy but it doesn't alter my argument the bloke openly admits he was on the marching powder his entire career and the guy was employed as a member of Manly's coaching staff not that long ago and is employed to commentate on games by the league's broadcast partner yet the league plays with itself and stalls on registering the contract of a player for doing the exact same thing as a bloke held up as one of the game's all time legends while pretending they are moral crusaders. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Plus, he was named an immortal.
