Rival code
Is
Same country city
Played at the same time
On a different tv channel

5 or 6 blokes playing union in France that nobody here will ever see is not much of a rival
To suggest it is , is clutching at straws.

Would be interesting to know whether he actually has a contract registered by the NRL.

I will say that their doesn't appear to be clear guidelines (to the public) around contract registration.

But most governing bodies operate this way to be fair.

That's the big issue here there isn't any clear public guidelines at all around contract negotiation.

The way the NRL has handled the whole saga is it really smacks of making up the rules as they go along and make themselves out to be some moral crusader at the same time.

The NRL really does need to shit together fast as they are acting like they haven't a clue what they're doing.

So NRL won't let a player play womyn's cricket. Triggered.

What about boxing?

Way to miss the point. Completely.

I used women's cricket, lawn bowls and lifesaving as examples to show the ridiculousness of a comment that French Rugby is not a competitor because it's not on our TV and we don't know the players names.

Get it?

I'll explain, as clearly, you are struggling on this lovely Friday morning.......

A sport is not a rival simply because we can see it on our TV and name some players. French Rugby IS a competitor because our players are a target of their clubs to go and play over there.

I used sports that NRL players are NOT ever going to go to as a demonstration that the idea a sport is not a rival simply because of TV access and player awareness, is ridiculous.

French rugby is a rival to the NRL. Just so happens they have done us a favour in this instance

Obviously the Barba incident has parallels yes. But its about Taylor.

He's allowed to train with the team right now yeah?

He is, but there's no guarantee of a contract from either the Raiders or the NRL. The NRL could still tell Taylor to take a hike and he'd probably deserve it.

You're not the brightest tool in the shed are you?

Alcohol is also a drug yet no one batted an eyelid when Terepo from Parramatta endangered people's lives by getting behind the wheel and driving a car while under the influence and puts people's lives in danger in the process yet no one bats an eyelid, Barba snorts cocaine while celebrating his team's premiership win endangering no one except himself and somehow people think it's worthy to pick up their flametorches and pitchforks and run him out of town.

That's the stupid part about it and the reason why the NRL is as inconsistent as all f**k.

You are seriously a dead shit....

Every player signs a legally binding contract that has clauses in it around recreational drugs. If they fail an "out of competition test" (one that isn't on game day) they get a suspension....(4 weeks for the first failed test, 12 weeks for the second failed test and 1 year for the third failed test).

Barba knew this and also knew he had already failed 1 test previously. Did he really think that in the weeks after they won the comp then he and all his teammates wouldn't be tested?

He and the Sharks come up with a plan for his contract to be ripped up while he goes to rehab with the intention of signing him on a reduced deal prior to this season. The NRL then follows proper process in reviewing the contract (note they still haven't approved Foran who has been waiting at least 3 months), and Barba cracks the shits about how long it is taking and decides he will go to France for 6 months to earn some money.

The NRL have every right to say that we will hold off on registering the contract until you return, which in turn means the suspension doesn't start until the contract is registered.

Now you bring up the Terepo case as some sort of inconsistency??? He has a registered contract already so all that can be done is give him a punishment to fit the crime which is what Parramatta did (15k fine and 3 NRL match suspension).

I hope Barba sorts his life out while he is away for his kids sake because they are the ones that are continually being punished by his f**king stupidity.

That's all nice
But they didn't say they'd hold off until he returns
That ( the French deal ) only came about because he was told he couldn't train with an NRL club and they'd never given him answer about being registered.

This thread is on fire today, troll level through the roof. So far we've learned that RU isn't a rival code of RL. Carcharias doesn't mean what he says no matter how often he says it and sharkshocked cannot connect the dots.

How's life down the f**king bottom of the ladder?

It sure is as sweet as hell seeing us as champions while you f**king arseholes are a complete rabble on and off the field and down near the bomb shelter.
