Still bad times!

I think what makes it extraordinary is that none of those players were the highest paid, captain of the club and looking to return to the club that they left.TPJ > Panthers
SBW > Rorters
Oloapu > Dogs
Souffs land Wighton for '24 on less money
And yet all of a sudden, as soon as Brisbane look to land a big fish, OMFG SCANDAL CRISIS HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN TERRIBLE LOOK...
I honestly don't know why I'm so surprised.

Personally I don't have a problem with it as long as it's all above board.

Yes. We’ve sent Ben a thank you card.Any way you dice it, the optics of the best player in the lowest ranked side leaving mid season to play for the top ranked side, well they aren't great.
You mean this? Please post where I have done this
Gaz come back to us around June 2010 from the union team Staide Francais. He signed a 4 1/2 year deal, so the intent wasn't to only play in 2010 to bag a premiership, which appears to be the whole point of the attempted Hunt transfer. Gaz was good enough to play in all three SOO in 2011, but announced his retirement in July 2011. Ironically, his last game was against Brisbane in the 2011 semi-final loss. The above was in response to this statement “It was bullshit when Gasnier returned to the Dragons for 50k”
Context, you were trying to draw parallels to Hunt where there are none. So it was a response to Gasnier coming back for a portion of the year. I’ll ask again, which NRL club was he coming from?
Edited
If I have mistaken/misunderstood your intent, apologies. But I am in no doubt that’s what you meant.
Every member should send him a Ty card to tell him to f**k off lethim know how we fans feelYes. We’ve sent Ben a thank you card.
This. Christ I'm 50/50 on him coming back. Also I should state, I could go either way on Hunt, yes he could help propel Broncos if he played 9 and could be a backup for Reynolds, But I also think there is a chance he could hinder the harmony the squad has now.
It's also a big kick in the teethe for the guys who have worked so hard to get Broncos back to title challengers and he just comes in on the coat tales.
I suspect Benny will see off 2023 at St George, and then he'll be off to the club that can give us the best deal.This. Christ I'm 50/50 on him coming back.
The main concern for me is how many players has the club told the cap is maxed out only to find 2-3 hundred K for Benny?
Benny might be in two minds regarding his future, but I've got no doubt he knows exactly how the fans are feeling.Every member should send him a Ty card to tell him to f**k off lethim know how we fans feel

Clubs are, supposedly, not allowed to talk to players and discuss financial terms while the player is under contract. The club can get involved and discuss terms with other clubs, in conjunction with the player and manager, and if a consensus is reached, the contract is null and void. St George's stance that Benny honour his contract until the end of 2025 puts them in a better position to negotiate now. If St George can get a good deal, Benny will probably go.How does that even happen now? He is signed until the end of 2025 (? is it) so clubs can't talk to him until November next year? Saints will probably allow him to negotiate at the end of the year or whenever it suits them I guess. Will be an interesting off-season of trading for Flanagan.
Fair enough but I’d love official confirmation that it was that high because I believe that a lot of NRL contracts are greatly exaggerated. They have to be or no one hardly is under the cap.
Yeah Gus might be right or he might be just saying that so it all dies down and he can make his movesGus thinks he will just end up playing out his remaining two years at the dragons then retiring back home
it’s not like the titans are a premiership force anyway
on whose the better coach going forward Hasler or flanghan it’s hard to say
The problem of course is that - based on recent history - what will actually happen is that the Dragons board will f*ck it up again. The club is absolutely responsible for the state that it’s in. The worst decision they made (and it’s a strong field) was to pay elite money for a precious little merkin like Hunt, and then make him the captain.
Now that we’re in a situation where he wants out, we’re much better off using his contract as a bargaining chip to try to improve our roster, rather than just raising the white flag and letting him walk.
Honestly, does anyone actually think he’s going to be with us next year? He’s gone. The rest is just details, and the club would be doubling down on its shitf**kery if it didn’t try to get something in return for letting him go.
