dugan went for 50k more to save face and a nice bird to millward on the way out.

packer went for at least 300k per year more.

that's only an extra 350k between them not counting the 300k upgrade widdop got.

claiming hunt slightly cost less makes zero difference to the cap space available at the time before those players finalised their futures.
Not being rude your but numbers are likely assumptions based on rumours etc. so it isn't any more valid than what I could suggest so I am not going to get into a numbers game.
For what it's worth(and to be clear on your original question)most supporters are happy with signing Hunt. The general feeling is that Dugan leaving was more to do with ego than anything else. Packer(and Dugan) are losses but there isn't much b*tching that it was to do with Hunt and to keep asserting that is way off the mark.

you can guestimate the best case numbers in your favour, and hunt's numbers STILL exceed the difference in dugan and packers new vs old deals = FACT

dugan's "ego" was more about being f**ked over by millward, i think most can reason he would have stayed if offered the difference betore the sharks came calling.

packer left undisputedly because there was no money left to compete for his retention.

Like I posted earlier, which I will repeat again in reply to your original question, you won't find many Dragons fans upset over the Hunt signing nor perceived value of contract and the effect it has or hasn't had on the cap.

I get the feeling you are upset about it(not sure why)or digging for something that isn't there and if that's the case then I can't help you.

i saw your individual response on hunt, that's not what i was "digging" i'm merely clarifying some of your other responses which were were either incorrect or dressed in a way to substantiate poor decisions.

as for the general consensus, thats another story, i've seen enough threads in your forum to conclude otherwise.

Is that what you were doing. Good for you then.

If it was because he signed with the Dragons, it would have happened immediately afterwards. It happened because he got injured and his replacements were better then he was. He returns and the club took a step backwards.
Come on man, do you seriously think that if he had of resigned with the Broncos that he still would of been dropped? I'm not buying it. He's been back for 2 games, first one without all their origin players and the second against one of the better sides in the comp.

Nope... some of them think he is the best half in the game.

I'm sure you've got some examples?

How so? The results speak for themselves.

5/5 with Ben Hunt injured
3/8 with Ben Hunt in the team.

What a massive achievement beating premiership heavyweights Titans, Souths, Panthers, Manly & Tigers.

Clearly much harder than facing Sharks, Cowboys, Storm, Raiders, Dogs, Roosters (x2) and Warriors (without origin players).

That's a very fair point. In saying that, Hunt being dropped was well over a year in the making as he hasn't come close to matching his 2014-2015 form since <that dropped ball>. It's just taken the emergence of Nikorima and Marshall coming along as a more than handy backup to make it possible.

Wonder if Benny expects Flanno to drop Bird to the Reserves . . . that's the right thing to do right?

Maybe if:

A) Bird was underperforming; and
B) There was a more than capable replacement waiting in the wings

That analogy would work.
