Parra are not stupid, they know who their priorities are, they know what they are doing. We cant just say sign williams and KK now. You don't know what their manager are telling them. Ben smith is a great club man, comeon guys luke burt had a bad year or 2 and was even playing reserve grade and was injured, now look at him.

Give ben time, he is one of the most damaging centres, attack and defence when fully fit.

Great signing by the club.

How many clubs reward average players 4 year deals coming off Knee reconstructions, 1, Parramatta.

He hasn't even played a single game in the second row, and if he struggles to bust the line outwide he certainly wont do it up the middle.

If we loose a Tony Williams or KK as the result of this i don't think i could live with it, particulary if they go on to be superstars, and Ben is having ongoing problems at securing a spot in first grade.

and how would you know that we will???..and will you ever know that we'll lose players as a result of it???

btw, I believe both those players are tied up until the end of 09, and half the squad are also up for renewel so I don't know how you'd come to that conclusion.

don't be worried about losing players, look at how this club is going, players re-signing for less money then they can get from other teams, these boys get on great and want to play and win together.

So you believe you know better than Hagan?
Cool, I'll see your name in the running when his contract is up then, Id like to see you in action in the same position

Here's a tip, i will not be re-signing players to 4 year contracts after a knee reconstruction, actually the vast majority of coaches wouldn't, particular if you're just an average centre.

Eela, if be re-signing Ben a four year deal means that in 2009 when the players contracts are up and we have no space, Bens money could've gorn towards them.

4 year deal, f**k me dead.

Great signing by the club.

Luke burt was stuffed around, he has always been an ok player, but a very good fullback, Brian wouldn't play him there.

Luke Burt is 3 times the player B Smith is.

Has Luke had a knee reconstruction though? those injuries can potentially strip of any pace you have, and in Bens case he hasn't got much to begin with.

so how do you know that there's no clause, option or incentive in his agreement that states he'll be there even there beyond that??..how do you know that in a squad of 25 fulltime players that this guy's sallary will be any sort difference between keeping certain players at the club or not??

you'll never know that and if you think you do than you're talking our of your arse...

maybe, explain to me what you mean..and what the relevance is in it??

if I'm indeseperate need of a hooker/forward I go for Pig.

If I need a an organising half/five-eight who can slot in at hooker in a pinc I go for Finch.

If I need some size and a good defensive centre who potentially make a fist of the backrow I go for Smith.

what a stupid question...

I've got no problem with the club re-signing Benny, but i got to agree with Ronny, 4 years seems way to long for a guy getting over a knee reconsruction. Plus he will struggle to hold down a spot in his preferred posistion of centre. How do we know he will go well in the back row. Big risk IMO.

As i said earlier, even if there are various incentives involved or clauses, 4 YEAR DEALS ARE AS RARE AS WINING PREMIERSHIPS, unless you're an absolute superstar alas Lockyer, Johns etc or coaches like Bellamy they just are not given considering the amount of young players always coming throught the ranks.

who knows, Hellsy was the one that mentioned it.

Well the coach doesnt sign the paycheck does he?
If the board were dead against a signing they would not have signed off on 4 years would they?????

btw, I've noticed with interest that he's scored 25 tries in 58 fg games which I think is actually an amazing stat for a sh*t player.

A stupid question? weren't all three contract up for renewal at the end of the year and Riddell next year? so i asked you a question, about who you would prioritise, I'd rather Riddell and Finch then Ben Smith

lol i like how you mentioned 'potentially' for B Smith. So basically you're paying for potential eela?

again, you've got no idea what's in the contract so what's the point going on like a pork chop about it???

give me facts, figures and link to his contract and i'll make my own judgement.

Remember Mark bell and Scott Donald?

Out of curiosity, how many of those trys were scored when Brian Smith was still at the helm?
