I am a non drinker Chewie.... how could I infiltrate Northies ... the security bros at the door would be onto me straight away.

We need some real straight unsuspecting Shark FB alcoholic to be the 'man'. I would suggest Sadshark.

Yeah Northies have strict drinking rules. Thrown out if you drink too much or not enough.

Cronulla are in negotiations to sign Ben Barba as a replacement for sacked superstar Todd Carney.
Fairfax Media can reveal the Sharks have earmarked Barba to fill the vacant No.6 jersey and are hopeful Brisbane will grant him a release in order to join the wooden spooners next year.
The Sharks are cashed up and desperate for a quality playmaker after sacking Carney over his latest indiscretion, a vulgar photo which effectively ended his NRL career. Carney, who was the highest-paid player in Cronulla's history, has subsequently signed a three-year deal with French Super League outfit Catalans Dragons.

Make it happen....

Did Barba and Darius go to the same 'rehab'.

They might field their own team soon if they keep this up.

I'm not keen on barba coming, even if he's cheap. I'd prefer it if brown got a run in the halfs for the whole year and we save our money for some decent signings for 2016. some of the holes we have might be filled next year with some of the players we already have.
a another specialist half would be good but not barba

We have been in talks with Kennedy for a few weeks.

Correct.

Wouldn't buy into the managers spiel about not being released, or knowing nothing of it. Managers get on the defensive when sensative info is leaked.
That's why a lot of player managers feed false info to Moley/Lurker, and anyone else looking for a big scoop to make their E-Penis that little bit bigger.

I have been trying to find out the story on our approach to Barba, have been told there DEFINITELY has been moves made by our camp, and Barba has been responsive.
Of course, someone with Sydney history is going to come with risks, especially to a club built on an Indian burial ground, but IMO, the pro's out weigh the cons.

If he is dead set serious about coming back to Sydney and playing for us, we have a guy who is fimiliar with the area and surroundings, has friends here (don't go all "Epic Bender Crew") he has legitimate friends here in the likes of James Graham ect, and Michael Ennis is on record as to going into bat for him when times were tough for Ben.
I have followed his career since the 20's, and I have to tell you, he is the best 5/8 that has played in that competition.

His kicking game was good, his support play is good, his running game is second to none and he can create.
He plays what is infront og him and throws games plans out the window when a sniff of opportunity comes in.

I also see so many positives of signing Barba, one being Val Holmes, who is the best support player at the club.
Both of them lurking off our big forwards who can offload, plus play makes like Lewy/Wade, and we would finally have 2 genuine attacking players who would put bums on seats.

I know it would be a bit harsh on Nu, but lets face it, whilst Nu is a fantastic prospect, players like Barba don't grow on tree's, and rarely want to come to Cronulla.
There are options for Nu, Robbos is only here for another year, and he can play hooker, he has a 3 year deal with good money, so the club wouldn't dump him, and they could use him as a stepping stone in developing a player with genuine utility value.

The opportunity is there so we should be pushing to get him. If we some how manage to get Barba/Ennis/Bird and a prop, I will consider that a win given our circumstances.

you make some very valid points cb4, none of which I could disagree with.

but I don't think he's a natural playmaker, our outside backs probably aren't going to get the space they need from him, even though carneys been the only one in recent years to shift the ball wide when there's space.

but then again when barba won the daly m , it was off the back of a foward pack making good meters, quick play the balls and offloads. all of which we are good at ,even though it wasn't shown this year. so who knows he could be a great signing, but I'm not sold yet.

Hard to argue. Would like Mose Masoe. Adds size and aggression. Massive improvement on Vave. I still think It should be spelt out to Gall he should play prop for the benefit of the club. Plus pressure him to give Origin away.

Only question for me is Ennis. Think without the captaincy and given his age, we will get the watered down version. Bit biased as I don't like him, sorry.

Masoe or Kennedy, I am not fussed.
I am probably in the minority, but I thought Vave was decent for us this year.
Made good ground, played on through a bad knee injury when we were short on troops, always gave his all.
His all may not be much, but he showed more character than some of the "profile players" on the sideline.

Gal's move to prop needed to happen in 2011, there is buckleys chance it happens now.
I would however, reduce his minutes significantly.

You are entitled to your opinion, I consider Ennis a complete upgrade on Morris/De Gois, and I am stoked that Lichaa left the club, the guy is an absolute dunce.

Barba is a no brainer. Great talent who needs to be mentored to perform at his best.

Masoe would be a good pick up. Big unit who can do damage. Will benefit from experienced forwards to guide him.

A right centre would also be great. That would be a remarkable recruiting effort given the state the club is in.

Email that to Barba.... Where would he play with the Broncos in 2015 with Milford, and possibly Boyd?

Huge lift to our 2015 prospects...

This is the part i like most about the way he plays.
our style of play is so boring. It was so refreshing to see the young blokes like Nu etc play off the cuff and have a crack at what was in front of them. Barba can execute these type of plays perfectly. Something we havnt had since Presto.

Let's hope so! Otherwise it'll be another year of below average recruiting

IMO, our recruiting over the last decade has been horrible.
If you have a look at our best year (recruitment for 2012) it is still bad.
Carney made it look better than it was, and Fifita playing at a calibre he never did at the Tigers took away the spotlight on how bad we fail in the market.
We need backs, fast backs with try scoring ability. We never ever get them. Our biggest mistakes in the market have been 3 young centres all keen on joining us, and we fluffed it about.

- Kane Linnett: We stinged him over 20k.
- Tim Lafai: We never got back to him.
- Tautau Moga: We got complacent thinking he was just going to join us.

Any one of those names makes us better. 2/3 would have given us a young centre pairing that can tackle, make line breaks and score tries.
Instead, we plodded along with Pomeroy/Ayshford/Wright/Wright/Leutele.
Gets depressing writing that.

I genuinely believe that once we get the C.E.O group up and running, we need to hire a full time recruitment office. We cannot palm too many jobs onto a small amount of staff anymore.
Time to get professional about our business.
