Scummers are frothing at signing Marshall.
Will bring them hundreds of premierships...lol
They can have him.
Can't recall the player market being so active in April as it is now ?? More and more contracted players look like wanting to jump ship or being pushed....interesting times
Poor old Cronulla, have to feel sorry for them, still waiting, it's like waiting for Harold Holt to come back from his swim.:(

For what it's worth, The blues just released an official statement that they have released Marshall. Marshall is emphatically denying he has spoken with any NRL club as he was awaiting the release.

interesting times ahead.

benji..

i mean. yeah. cool. whatever

does not fix the real glaring issues with the squad.

i believe it is a marketing ploy

Definitely a marketing ploy but maybe poison for the squad. What about the talk of Ennis? Throw in Capt Gallen and how can you fit that many HUGE ego's and strong willed players into the one team ?

I don't know, but its going to be so much fun watching them try to contain the EGO's. Beau Ryan will have all he needs for his footy show skits in his own team...... hahahahahahaha

Buddy, his manager would be negligent if he hadn't secured at least an offer or two.
Got the release, compensation to take into account, feel he will be a shark / dog or stormer.

Just to get this right... Are you saying Widdop isn't in the elite bracket of players?
Dugan is a superstar, and really, i think it was a tad more than falling in our laps.

Are you for signing Benji? Just asking mate.

Widdop wasn't in the same class as Benji sorry but he wasn't ...He may be now but he wasn't. As for Dugan yes he had nowhere else to go was going to Broncos remember.

yes to answer your question I think a reinvigorated Benji would be a massive signing for us.

Do you mean on The Footy Show or on the footy field? Because the last 2 seasons on the actual field Benji was diabolical.
Media wise yeah Widdop isn't in his class. But football wise Gareth is well ahead and has been for a while

if you recall the game against us last year when he played Left Centre.. he killed it.. it was all too late, but it became clear that the bloke was simply being played in the wrong position as a 5/8.

I dont think hes a fit for us (though right centre would be brilliant), but think outside the box.. plus hes relatively cheap.

Well whenever he has the ball against us I'm sure we all shit ourselves and probably will again soon.

That'll show in itself he is still a superstar.

Did you watch him at all last year? Or his cumulative game time of 40 minutes in the super 15 this year? He couldn't even nailed down the FB spot for the Blues. He may have some stage in the past caused some palpitations, but no longer.

I respect him as a player that was great to watch on his day but he will want huge dollars for the next 2 years and I rather we spent it on other areas. IMO, he is surplus to our requirements. I'm not buying into the whole Benji circus thing.
Good luck to him.

In season 2013, Nathan Fien had more try assists than Benji Marshall. That is a fact.

Fien is not a superstar (certainly wasn't last year) and absolutely no-one shat themselves when he had the ball.

Agree......just for the record its no good anyone getting excited one way or the other, because he wont be coming to us.

I must admit that in the last stages of the 2010 prelim every time Benji got the ball my heart was in my throat. He is that type of player.
In the end though it was a couple of errors by him that took the heat off. He is also that type of player.

Will take two months intensive work to get to NRL standard. Like going from zero to 100.

Imo past his best & won't get back there. Oxygen thief!

Cronulla can have him & put him in the cupboard with their Amoco cup

Yes a trophy so obscure that we no longer remember how to spell it :sarcasm:

i would much rather that we spend any money we might have spent on benji , going towards ensuring we keep our up and comers in the holden cup , rather than a past his time jackrabbit .
