The problem with McGregor is he has burnt his players out year after year without changing his side. He does not give the players from reserves a go unless he is desperate with injury.
Just for curiosity sack what is McGregors win loss rate in the last half of the season in the last 4 years.

Holbrook is a good possibility, 76% winning record over a few years with St Helens. Good experience at Roosters, Dragons and other clubs. Maybe the way to go.

Similar history to Siebold.
Id take the chance , things need to change the coaching staff have been to comfortable for a long time . Lets not forget we were one game off having a disastrous year a loss to the Broncos surely would have been the last straw for Mary ....

I agree mate
Not sure if Holbrook even wants to come back to Oz
Regardless, I believe Mary will get an extension before Xmas
That is how low we have sunk in our ambitions and expectations
3 more years of this, not going to cope......

Bennett could end up at the Tigers, especially if they punt Cleary, the coaching merry go round will get interesting in a couple of weeks, hopefully Mary is on it, but i think he will survive to lead us into darkness...

I doubt it very much. Bennett has seen what it is like when a head coach moves to a club with a roster that needs huge change to become competitive. Moving to the Dragons was easy because a significant amount of the work was done before his arrival. Moving to Newcastle and then back to the Broncos, Bennett found that the roster was not in good shape and so building the roster took up much of his effort.

With a few minor changes to the SGI roster, Bennett could make our side a top GF contender.

With the change of ownership SGI now have no excuse. Before one of the excuses was lack of funds; St George were not willing to tip in without an equal investment from Illawarra. Now ith St George and WIN being the owners, there is absolutely no excuse for not employing professional staff.

Possum, I think the problem we have is the head honchos of the club truly believe the season was successful......and there is no desire to move Mary on
They are happy enough with him
They are happy with mediocrity

Yep...The Slogan in the Roosters dressing room says " We play for premierships"...

Ours probably says "Happy to make the 8 "...

Who would you say is responsible for this attitude?
Who is it up to to change this attitude?

Given that our new CEO was the Chairman of the Board for the past couple of years, am I right to say you are blaming him for this mess.

That's a little too simple..there are allegedly factions on our Board....Let me just say that out of 100 odd applicants for the CEO job an insider got the job.

In terms of the Gordon's buying out the Illawarra share there was another party who offered 5 mill more and had extensive contacts in the sporting world which could well have helped with Third Party.
Again the decision was made to go with the Gordon's who were already "Part" of the club.

...this also filters through to the coaching ranks with Former players featuring prominently in our ranks .

You draw your own conclusions

I understand. Not many posters like to actually point the finger at a specific person. But I agree with you and I am willing to point the finger at Doust.

As far as the SGI shares are concerned, Illawarra owned them, owed the Gordon / WIN Corp. a lot of coin so it was best for them to sell their shares to WIN. The other entity did offer 5m more but this was probably less considering the debt forgiven by WIN. I'm sure WIN would not have been so generous if Illawarra sold the shares to someone other then them.

Actually listening to Cronk, I'd have him coaching the Dragons next.
I have always thought that Cronk is technically one of the best halfbacks I have ever seen. I recall listening to him in the commentary box and thought he would make a great coach. Once he retires, I fully expect him to get a job on Fox. That will most likely spell the end of any coaching aspirations. Once they get a job with Fox, they are on big money and have job security. Coaching is a very secure job.
