Bennetts Broncos in GF

If we were given similar leniencies under the salary cap we'd of achieved something similar. They signed a world class fullback, five eighth and front rower and lost Ben Barba yet are still under the salary cap. Cheating the salary cap as they always have.

Haha you're a funny one.
How about some facts?
Barba, Kennedy, Hoffman all released
Hannant not re-signed.

Come on we all know the cap doesnt work. 3rd party deals take care of that. Bennett is a winner no doubt . He left a club ( us ) that has a snow flakes chance in hell of being able to recruit big name players such as the likes of Roosters, Broncos, etc can and is now back in the drivers seat of a club with some serious clout in that area.

And its not just the Broncos....Just have a look at the backline of the Roosters ....wow ....and thats not even mentioning that pack. How they dont win the gf every year is beyond me.

And then you have someone like the Tigers and Newcastle who have little to no money to spend on their roster. I fail to believe its purely poor cap management . The Roosters have so much money left in the kitty they can pillage other clubs young 16-17 yrs olds for the next batch of stars to call their own.

The game is a joke!!

At this point I just don't give a f**k and tired of hearing about his time at the club.

Knight Vision....you are spot on....there's a two speed salary cap system at play. The top 4 teams are way better than the rest. The exception is Canterbury. They made the GF last year but have underperformed the last four years.

Mac you will give yourself a stroke! We know this. It sucks but what do you suggest we do? We are run by the game's governing body. Hating on Wayne makes no difference at all and God help us if he takes over from John Grant as has been speculated. Qld will be unstoppable.

lol, all you sour f**ks. Many people were doubting him this year, and the Broncos were shit while he was gone. Good on Bennett, escaped the mental institution that is our club and has gone home to a club that has the clout to compete at the top. As Drew said, he knows how to get a receptive squad playing at it's best. Our band of twats rejected him from the outset. I wish him well.

I was pretty sour when he left the club and was looking forward to him coming undone at Brisbane, but I've got to admit that now I don't hold any ill feelings towards him or Brisbane's success this season at all.

The more I hear about the problems at our club and the attitude of the players the more I realise that Bennett was never going to bring about the changes that he wanted that would allow Newcastle to be more successful. I'd love Brown to be successful, but I get a bad feeling he will encounter the exact same attitude problems from players and the board here as Bennett did.

I hope Joey agrees to take up a consultant role as Brown has allegedly offered. I want Browny to have blokes around him in support who will back him if he is up against the Old Boys regressive bullshit. Maybe add Matt Johns in as well. They have been very vocal about the flaws in the club. More importantly they give Brown weight in any local junior entitlement agenda they try to force upon him. That is his choice to make. Not be pressured on.

Who gives a shit? He's done a good job at the Broncos this year like he did most years there with them. He wasn't the right fit for us obviously. I'm sick of hearing about him to be honest. He picked up and left us in a bad place to do what was right for him and it was the right thing for both parties. Now we need to rebuild and look forward.

Despite popular belief our club was far from a "mental institution" before Bennett got here. We had a squad that consistently punched well above it's weight. We weren't world beaters most weeks but lord I'd take it over where we are now.

We were flat broke and went from one off field scandal to the next year after year. Hardly a bastion of stability and success. Yeah, the players had a bit of a crack more often - they were quite happy running the asylum - but there were still massive attitude problems in the squad and the height of our "achievement" was scraping into the 8 and getting smashed in the face week one. We never, ever would have made it 1 game from the grand final in 2013 without Bennett. We never looked like a really competitive team, and no-one outside our most die-hard supporters considered us any more than a peasant team. Rightfully so.

Bennett didn't make things better here, but our playing squad never got behind him and gave him a chance bar a small run at the back end of 2013. I find it bizarre that every squad Bennett has ever commanded has competed hard and consistently as a baseline - yet he couldn't get us to even have a go. I find it even harder to fathom that you would point the finger at him, when all he has known outside of our club is success.

The club is overhauling the roster and the off-field staff entirely as an admission that there's far more wrong than just the head coach. If it makes you feel better about the club to blame Bennett then I guess that's your prerogative... I just can't see how people could blame him given what has come to pass since. My feeling is that yeah, he didn't make things better... but no coach would have. We were on this course, regardless. I really hope he writes about his time at the Knights one day, it'll be a good read I'm sure.

Brian Smith did a better job here than Bennett. Fact.

I hate how the NRL has evolved to serve only the rich. Fast losing interest in a competition we will probably never be a chance of winning again.

Štarting to think the commission was the worst thing to happen to us.

We were certainly broke but the squad we had pre-Bennett tried their guts out on the field week in week out even if they were outclassed. That began to disappear rapidly in 2012. Bennett got rid of the majority of that squad and replaced them with a a squad that just genuinely do not give a shit. It's not surprising that they are so f**king entitled either when blokes like Uate, BJ and Roberts were put on 400-500k contracts under Bennett's watch.

Not sure how you can say the problem here was because the players never got behind him when he punted 80% of the roster when he came on board. It's his roster that he built.

We're still broke btw but now we have a terrible culture and the players have a terrible attitude to go with it.

You can not believe how I could point any blame at Bennett all you want mate but I'm entitled to speak my mind as much as anyone. In hindsight I've realised that I was wrong with my defence of Bennett previously. I'd always defended him assuming his decisions were going to be for the good of the club in the long run but they weren't.

since we have made the same mistakes over and over it might be ideal to sign young players who want a go and will give their all. A no journeymen policy is a good start. If they show they have the goods then they stay. I would like to think Browny sees it that way and provide us with the platform that shows he can build a team who play for the club first and him second.

It bothers me that he's gotten the Broncos to the grand final. They're my most hated team and it's like, why couldn't he do it for us?

But mostly it just shows how f**ked we were (maybe still are, time will tell) as a club.
