Jonathan Fisher
"Up too early, feels so bright/Didn’t get much sleep last night/Freight train rattled through my head/Whistle blowin’, love is dead..."
I thought this sh*t died in the late '90s? Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette and Bernard Fanning. That’s what they’ll say. Pilot, co-pilot and air steward on the voyage to music hell. An acoustic guitar, some two-bit rhymes and a sense of forced optimism is evidently all you need to wreck somebody’s day.
It seems apparent that the only reason he has a solo record deal is that his other band, Powderfinger, are quite the ‘rock stars’ in Australia. So, anyone looking to make a quick buck could do worse than starting an Incubus/The Black Crowes tribute band and emigrating to the land famed for its sun, surf and, on this showing, utterly appalling music. 0 out of 10

Its very bloody harsh. Not only that but it is saying that aussies have musical taste buds in their arses.

He once called Ben Lee a precoucios little merkin so he can't be all bad.

Definitely.

I have not been able to get into any of his solo gear at all. I just hope that this is not an indicator of what Powderfinger's new album will sound like (due out sometime next year apparently).

I have read enough about your personal music taste to know that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones....:D

Which mag was it from?

UK music papers like NME are laughable in their whole flavour of the month philosophy.

I'm no Fanning fan but it wasn't a bad song. Certainly worthy of say 5/10.

I agree, the song wasn't that bad.

A bit of imperial bitterness imo. Expats consistently sell out multiple Powderfinger shows in London, and the locals resent it.

This from a reviewer whose country gave us such reputable acts such as 5ive and the Spice Girls.
