If Blake goes hard at that kick and Hiku actually does his job he risks knocking him out of the way. Blake's effort looks much worse because Hiku does nothing. If you want to get up Blake for something go for his grabby effort on Roberts for their second.

All three of them did nothing so I blame all three of them. I'll give Cleary a break because he's a teenage halfback but Waqa and Hiku both should've done a lot more. You can do a lot more than Waqa did before it's a penalty it happens every game. Waqa literally get physically run off and blocked from most of the kicks he chases so he could've done that, even if Hiku does his jod and contest the kick he was no guarantee of catching because Kahu was allowed a free jump at it. They both f**ked up, like I said you are absolutely kidding yourself if you think Waqa did his job.
He put himself between Kahu and Hiku as the ball was kicked. Kahu just managed to change lines while Blake couldn't. If he moves again its a blatant penalty for escorting and you would be calling him an idiot for taking a guy out off the ball

He did what he was legally allowed to do. Its not lazy and its not his fault when his winger decides he won't contest a kick. Blake has no way to know he wont try catching it... he ran in looking like he was going to. If Hiku told Blake it was his I guarantee he contests it with no regard for himself. He miggt catch it. Might lose it. Might get beaten. But he would have a crack at it atleast. when a player makes no attempt at all. He deserves all the blame.

The worst thing he could have done is run toward Hiku and contest it... thats asking for a bad outcome.

Curious why Wallace doesn't feature? For mine he is the heart and soul of our team and he should have the C next to his name.

I just think he's at the end of the road. His service has been poor and his decision making the same this year IMO. Cleary seems to have less and less time on the ball when he receives it at first receiver.

As for heart and defence, I can't fault him but it doesn't cover the other deficiencies. Given our current position, I think it would be a great opportunity to blood either Rein or Katoa and see whether they are up to it.

Id probably put one of them on the bench (with Wallace starting) but I already have Peach and Cartwright on the bench.

Came here to see if anyone was thinking the same of Wallace. We have never looked fluent in the 20 with him at hooker. I think he's great when we are rolling up field and his obviously incredibly dedicated but attack starts at the ruck and we aren't giving a 19 year old kid enough to work with. Agree we need to try Rein or Katoa off the bench.

We are now out of time and need to switch Moylan. DWZ has been our best back this year and is full of confidence. Give him his shot.

DWZ, Hiku, Peachey, Whare, Blake, Moylan, Cleary, RCG, Wallace, Tamou, Yeo, CHN, Merrin, Cartwright, Kikau, Latu, Katoa/Rein

I'd be tempted to drop Latu for Aku or JFH as well. He makes some terrible misses in defence and its contributing to the instability of our defensive line up the guts.

Wallace might not be the best hooker in the NRL. But sadly he is definitely the best we have.

Rein is poor even in reserve grade and none of the other hookers at the club have screamed first grade to me.

We need to try converting a player or go out and sign one. What we have isn't good enough. Although i doubt we have room to move in the cap to sign one.

DWZ should get a shot at fb if he wants one, he has been good this year, looks strong and fast.
Edwards / whare on the wing until mansour returns.
Peachy and Blake should be the centres, both are learning their trade but will be amazing if given a chance.
Moylan/ Cleary halves
Merrin lock
Yeo CHN
RCG Wallace Kikau

Bench Tamou, Cartwright, JFH, TMM

JFH and Merrin could spend a bit of time at prop
Latu needs a bit of reserve grade

Hopefully the rumours regarding TMM are garbage. He is a very talented kid and could be great off the bench as hooker / utility

I agree with most of that. I'd dump Tamou to the bench. I would put Merrin at prop he plays in the middle anyway and I would have Yeo at lock to watch out for Moylan in defence. I would make Wallace a co captain they listen to him anyway on the field.

DWZ
Edwards
Peach
Blake
Whare
Moylan
Cleary
RCG
Wallace
Merrin
Carty
CHN
Yeo
Res
Tamou, Kikau,
Martin to come off the bench to spell Wallace or play him at centre and move Peach to the backrow.
Last reserve I would have Akauloa or JFH. Mix it up depending on the opposition or form

Latu needs to spend sometime in reserves.
Hiku the season.
The team need a shake up. I feel the players need to fight for their positions.

Don't mind it but the coach won't do it.

Not a single poster has not listed Moylan at 5/8. It seems so obvious yet here we over a third of the way through the season with just 2 wins, not trying anything different besides some random reshuffling of the bench.

1, Edwards
2. DWZ
3. Blake
4. Peach
5. Whare
6, Moylan
7, Cleary
8. Tamou
9. Wallace (c)
10. RCG
11. CHN
12. Yeo
13. Merrin

14. Cartright
15. Latu
16. Kikau
17. Akuola

If Mansour's fit, Whare drops back to reserves. If TMM is still around Cartright can drop off the bench and spend some time in reserves.

What will happen is, it'll look like we can't make the 8, Hook will switch Moylan to 6 and we'll click, making a seemingly miracle run for the finals only to just miss out on 8th due to points differential. Everyone will be left wondering what could have been and Hook will have his contract extended.

If Moylan isn't 5/8 against the warriors in 14 days time it will officially never happen under Griffin.

It's not going to happen. Griffin has to be gone first. He truly believes that he needs to have a second-rower at 6 who will stay out of Moylan's way and let Moylan play as a 6.... but that Moylan should not actually BE a 6. It's f**king stupid.

Add to that the f**king absolutely geniused tactic to NOT try and grubber into the in-goal and what you have is a moron coach who will only find success if he is lucky enough to have such a talented side that they ignore him and do what they want.

I think you're likely right.

It's sad because our team can be so much improved from this simple change.

We get a superior 5/8 who will have more time on his hands now he won't have to play fullback.

And we get proper kick return meters from a fullback. Not to mention better defence & kick positioning at the back.

Imagine how strong our kick returns would be with a back three of Mansour, DWZ & Edwards. Those guys will in turn help our soft forward pack out.

Typing this out only makes me more :rage::rage::rage::rage:

Cleary preferred Dean Whare and Wes Naiqama at fullback. That was something.
He did not prefer Whare. Whare asked for a chance at fullback when he agreed to come across from Manly. He would have been good at it too. Except for his catching, positioning, defence and did I mention his catching?

I no longer have any idea what our best 17 looks like or what it should be.

Too many players appear to lack fitness, playing well below what they are capable of, playing away from there best position and most importantly playing without guts and determination.

If I were coach I would find a spot for Dylan Edwards, he is a super talent, has pace which is something we are clearly in short supply of in our three quarters.

Te Mare Martin I thought was one of our better players before his mysterious injury leading to his demotion and resulting in the return of Bryce Cartwright into the 5/8th role. Frankly, Bryce is fast becoming a myth and barely worthy of a position in our top 17 never mind starting role in front of TMM.

It goes without saying James Tamou has been a major disappointment. I thought he was going to be great for us but has largely shown nothing to date and his performances should merit a spell in NSW Cup.

I expected Leilani Latu to kick on leaps and bounds from his breakout season in 2016 but he has gone backwards under Anthony Griffin.

Likewise Sitaleki Akauola, while he has had a few serious concussions this season has been largely overlooked despite always showing the sort of passion and guts sadly missing from our forward pack this season in his limited opportunities.

Anyway, I expect the same 17 to be trotted out against the Warriors in our next home game, with the same high mistake rate, equally high missed tackle count and totally inability to mount any serious attacking thrust inside our opponents 20 metre zone. Way may win, we may lose but I am totally disgruntled at the moment and sadly may or may not go to the game.

Maybe the Panthers need to track down Ryan Purrdler, and sign him/her to a long term contract!!!!
