teams what can defend , unlike with the toyota cup grand final, people dont find all out attacking league exciting, the score line makes it look like a game of union, people want to see games with defence and make it hard for a team to score points.

Rugby League purists maybe but for more casual fans who just tune in on GF day would probably prefer spectacular tries. I thought for a game I don't really care about, the NYC, grand final was a great spectacle. But yes for me I would prefer a hard fought first grade final. As a Penrith fan I may be biased, but the 2003 GF was a great example of thsi.

For the good of the game we'd need Melbourne in the GF, probably against a team like NZ or Gold Coast / Cowboys.

Melbourne lost a lot of ground this year obviously, and they need to get that back next year legitimately.

For me personally, Dragons v anyone would be fine.
I'd love to play Canberra or Melbourne though in the GF, the build up and anticipation among the Dragons fan base would be massive.

If we are looking at it from a "growing the game " perspective then Two Sydney teams is the worst possible outcome.
As was shown this yr, outside RL heartland the viewing audience was ordinary....

Don't get ne wrong there is nothing wrong in a all SYD Derby,but it does very very little to promote RL outside RL States.

I personally would love to see a Sydney team V Storm/Warriors/Titans/Cows/Broncos.

It makes it an Us V Them final...You get far more interest in Vic/Qld or NZ .

the best grand final for me would be one that appeals of the majority of the public. ie Brilliant attacking teams who know how to entertain. I don't think we've had a GF for the 'fans', and by that i mean the casual fans, for a while now.. having defence orientated teams dominate the arena; in Manly, the Storm and now the Dragons

but then again, it is a matter of opinion.. i certainly agree that we can't have 40-32 scorelines in a GF

Rabbitohs V Broncos. Sydney's most popular club (not counting Dragons bandwagon members who will leave as soon as they don't win a GF) verse the most popular club in the NRL. NSW v Queensland. I'd say it would have a chance at breaking tv records for a gf.

Match ups I think would be good besides derbies

Gold Coast vs Wests
Canberra vs Souths - The ACT could use a boost, and the Rabbits would have a city wide feel good factor
New Zealand vs Canterbury

but in terms of "good for the game" I'd go

North Queensland vs Melbourne - Queensland and NSW would be behind the Cowboys, and the Victorians would be interested.

St George V Melbourne would definately be the best GF result. And for the good of the game Storm would have to win.

That would be the biggest reversal ever. One year management of an NRL club cheat and field an illegal team with unsuspecting players.

Next year with a new team and officials running the club, they make the GF and take it out to prove in no uncertain terms they ARE the best NRL team in the comp.


Sadly it won't happen. St George ain't got the quality to be a champion team to make it again 2 years in a row.


Probably Storm V Eels again. With Storm once again the winners. As expected.

Tigers Vs Titans, I can't imagine it'd be easy trying to coax a Wests fan into watching AFL after the Tigers had won the GF.
Same with the Coast, nobody cares about Karmichael Hunt or Gary freaking Ablett when the Titans have won a premiership and outdone spoiled older brother just north!

Dragons vs Dogs. I work at the airport and i could say 40% of the workers there follow the Dragons and 40% follow the Dogs. I remember last year everyone was spewing that we only played each other once.
