MOP just beats ... Justice.

1 less song than ...Justice, but better quality of songs.

I think it beats it comfortably. I don't rate Justice that highly. Even prefer the Black Album - yep, it's sad but true

Yeah well the fact that it's Metallica is probably influencing me here but it just doesn't do it for me the same way. Lacks energy.

Obviously I'm a metal fan anyway so I prefer it heavier. Still, they're better than St Anger

master, its just f**king awesome.

also here is some news re: metallica

Drummer Lars Ulrich recently commented on Metallica's official website:

"While we're finishing up the new album, we told the dudes at the record company we thought it might be cool to dust off the old tapes and get all retro with some vinyl re-releases.... First up are the first two albums (duh!?), 'Kill 'Em All' and 'Ride the Lightning', coming out on April 15 in North America and pretty f**king close to that in the rest of the world.

"There will be two versions... one like the original on a single disc spinning at 33 1/3, the other a two disc, 180-gram vinyl, 45 rpm package all in a double gatefold. The music was half speed mastered from the original analog tapes at Mobile Fidelity to bring you audiophile quality. Oh, and in case you were wondering, 'Master' and 'Justice' will obviously be next and should be coming out on vinyl in June."

if u dont compare it to other metallica albums its ok but theres a million other bands around at the same time that sounded heaps better like Korn

That's where i see the problem is.. If another band other then Metallica released it then it would have gotten much better reviews then it has...

Forget who it is for a minute and listen to the tunes themselves...

I find it hard to split my top 3 of RTL, MOP and Justice. Each of them are classics in their own right.

Just when I think Lightning has my vote, I think of how Puppets has Battery, Master of Puppets, Sanitarium, Disposable Heroes and Damage Inc. When I start thinking it's Puppets, I think of Blackened, Justice, One, Harvester, To Live is to Die and Dyer's Eve on Justice. When I lean towards Justice, I'm reminded how good Fight Fire With Fire, Ride the Lightning, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Trapped Under Ice, Fade to Black, Creeping Death and Call of Kthulu are.

Bastards. So much goodness.

I also quite like St. Anger, believe it or not.

I actually think Megadeth have been far more consistent - perhaps because they never became crap like Metallica did. Holy Wars is as good as anything Metallica ever did.
It's easy to be consistent if you continue to sound the same all the time.

At least Metallica have opted to change their sound and experiment a bit. They've got balls, and plenty of musical talent.

you're not alone. I think it's use of lyrics on songs other than St.Anger, make the songs very heavy.

St Anger is one of the worst albums ever made.

The songs are crud (the title track is okay but shocking production obviously), the lyrics are woeful, Lars painful top listen to.

And seriously James ... "Frantic-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tock."

That's just awful.

Indeed they have - and as we now know they shouldn't have.
