Yeah IMO the Top 4 packs are:

1. Bulldogs
2. Brisbane
3. Melbourne
4. Dragons

this is for 2007, Dragons dropped a place due to the loss of Bailey. Just lost a bit of grunt up front, but still a very good pack.

I think those four just about have the best packs covered Mattyg. It all depends "on the day" to determine who is better than who at any particular time.:?
*f**k, that sounds like a politicians answer, carefull Preacher*:sarcasm:

I like the Dogs pack, but find it hard to go past the Broncos pack

I think all one needs to do is look at the bench of teams and you'll see how strong forward packs are. Off the top of my head the Broncos bench next year will include the likes of Parker, Berrigan, Thaiday, Eastwood, Ennis, Hannant, Stagg and Thorn. Competition is so strong in the Broncos forwards no ones position is safe apart from maybe Petero's and Carroll's.

Whilst the Dogs do have an impressive starting 5, the rest are a serious drop off in terms of talent.

2007 will see some great forward battles.

South Sydney are a prime example of one team who have purchased some impressive forwards (Asotasi /Kidwell / Widders + exsisting forwards).

However , in my unbiased opinion , the " Best " pack that will be running around in 2007 ............is the Canterbury Bulldogs (even without Nate Myles / Asotasi).

Who do " you think " will have the " Best " pack in the NRL in 2007???
=================================================

8. MARK O'MELEY (AUSTRALIAN PLAYER)
9. BEN ROBERTS (NZ PLAYER)
10. WILLIE MASON (AUSTRALIAN PLAYER)
11. ANDREW RYAN (AUSTRALIAN PLAYER )
12. SONNY BILL WILLIAMS (NZ PLAYER)
13. RENI MAITUA (AUSTRALIAN PLAYER)

And when was Hughes leaving? If you honestly think Folkes will drop him, think again.

Souths pack will more than hold their own, however we still will struggle for depth.

8. Cusack
9. Webb
10. Asotasi
11. Kidwell
12. Fa'alogo
13. Sutton

14. Geddes
15. Widders
16. Galuvao
17. Stuart
18. Manuokafoa

I think the Dragons, Broncos, Raiders (TLL, Weyman, Logan and Tongue will eb standouts), Dogs and Eels will all have great packs. Manly's has been somewhat weakened by the retirement of Kennedy, but I'm sure someone will step up.

I am sure that Hughes will be used at hooker even though Roberts would do a better job.

As for the rest of our forward "falling away"....

there is also Hickey, Armit, McIllwain, Cleal and Morrin.

Hickey Armit are good and you can throw in Kouparitsas Te Maari but the others?

Broncos: Parker Stagg Carlaw Eastwood Taylor Moon
Storm: Cross Crossman Blair Smith Donnelly Rua S Manu Matterson
Dragons: Wicks Payne Scott Leaeno L Setu Houston D Hunt

Bulldogs have to hope for N Armit J Kite and McNichol to come through quickly

Well said.....Brisbane by far have a greater bench depth in 07 with Myles and Asotasi moving on. Dogs starting five are all good players but serious lack of depth in 07 with Armit the most experienced bench player.

Roberts moving to the hooker position is hopeful thinking ( I know).

What has Benji got to do with the best pack in 2007, he isn't a forward.

I called it a wankfest because it is about the 10th topic started by a dogs fan for the best forward pack in the NRL in half a year.

Bulldogs set the benchmark for forward packs in the game in my opinion and 2007 will be no different!

Storm pack is only going to get better in 07 as well and I think White and Kaufusi will play Origin. Broncos will still be good bt they need someone to step into Webby's shoes.

Brisbane Broncos Pack for 07:

8. Brad Thorn
9. Michael Ennis
10. Petero Civoniceiva
11. Corey Parker
12. David Stagg
13. Tonie Carroll

14. Shaun Berrigan
15. Ben Hannant
16. Sam Thaiday
17. Dane Carlaw

18. Greg Eastwood
19. Dave Taylor
20. Nick Kenny
21. Ian Lacey
22. Nathan Strudwick (Schoolboys Hooker)

No slouches there.

Though I agree, the Bulldogs starting pack is the best, their depth however isn't.

2007 should be a good year though in terms of forwards. Most teams have a good forward pack (Tigers and Titains are the exception)
