May / Mercury

Between them, they're responsible for some of the biggest and best loved songs in the world (Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Fat Bottomed Girls, Somebody To Love, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, ect ... and these are just the super hits - there are many more nuggets of gold on the albums too). Awesome duo.

They are the masterminds of some absolute classics..

And quite a huge amount of absolute disasters. Good call for the May / Mercury set too.

Pink Floyd's songwriters deserve a mention, even though they too had some shockers.

I'll put one out of left field, for a non-famous band, the writing combination of Portnoy/Petrucci.

I'd say you could call them a duo if you want. If we're including my May/Mercury suggestion, then we can include yours too in my opinion. Queen are still (to my knowledge) the only band in history where all 4 members wrote number ones (Roger Taylor wrote -among others- Radio Ga Ga, Heaven For Everyone, and A Kind Of Magic; while John Deacon wrote -again, among others- I Want To Break Free, Another One Bites The Dust, ect), meaning Queen was more than a duo + other band members; they were a 4-piece (who at times sounded like a 40-piece!).

I'm a massive fan of Lennon and Mccartney but reading the Simon and Garfunkel caught my attention.
At school the exam question was who wrote Bridge over Troubled Water.I answered Paul Simon and was marked incorrect.Even took the record in and showed the teacher it was just Paul Simon.Wouldnt adjust my mark but marked everyone who answered Simon and Garfunkel correct.
That was about 30 years ago and I still remember it as if it was yesterday.I know Simon wrote Mrs Robinson as well and assumed he wrote most of their songs.
Might google it one day and see what comes up.
