Problem with the BBL is that there just isn’t enough talent for 8 teams. The cap should redistribute the talent but many players make so much more elsewhere so for the real difference makers it doesn’t really redistribute them across the league. You’ve essentially got two super clubs who actively compete for the leagues with most of the others hoping to sneak into the finals then knock the big teams over when it matters.

Case in point, in 12 season there have been 5 Scorchers vs Sixers finals and only 3 that contained neither. This season the Heat have started well but I wouldn’t bet against a Scorchers/Sixers final yet again.

Heat were finalists last season from 5th. They caught form at the right time, and snuck into the final and almost won it.

For every time the Heat have made the finals (5 out of 8 teams do so in recent seasons) there has been a grand final contested between the Scorchers and Sixers.
