I do not like the idea behind this thread. Players only get one life. They should be free to earn as much as they can and have the opportunity to achieve whatever tickles their fancy in the short time they have. Fans do not own the players.
Well said!:thumb
I was really interested in the thread a while back where somebody asked how far members on this forum had gone with their league - many not that far.
Don't doubt the passion for the game everyone has but ffs this game is a lot of players' chance to make a living from what they do best as athletes. No-one who isn't in their shoes has the right to decide their future except themselves (its a tenuous future at that) yet so many have the cheek to.
Loyalty, smoyalty! This is
their life....the rules of the comp means they have to do what's best for them and their families in the limited time they have - and yes, that means money these days.
In an ideal world they would remain at their home club for all their playing life (which can be gone in an instant), lay their bodies on the line every week (at risk of debilitating injury, or worse), play for peanuts, and bow down to their 'loyal' fans at every opportunity ('cos that's who made'em you know), just to make some one-eyed, know-all, pea-hearted ('cos they didn't have what it takes to go all the way), mis-guided fans feel justified & superior when their team won on the day.
See this game for what it is & enjoy what each one has to offer for the time they play for your team.
