Geez there are a few people in here on there pedestals. You guys must be saints to have never said an insulting word to someone, and I guess no one here has ever crossed the line?

This is a nothing story. Paterson didn't divulge what it was about, Slater didnt divulge what it was about. They've apparently spoken since about the incident in an effort to clear the air.

If Paterson wasn't being held back by like 5 Knights players at the time he was going to tear Billy a new one, he's very lucky.
They were actually holding him up to stop him crying and slitting his wrists because he saw a bird hit some power lines on the way to the game.

Can't have been that bad if Mullen heard it and just said 'it's between them'; if it was as bad as they are making out, you'd have to speak out for your team mate

Why would mullen get involved it's directed to patterons illness of course mullen will say it's between them
noone wants to make big deals of these type of sledges off the football field but next time they meet Patterson will probably try and give slater hell.

Yeh coz it's between those 2 guys why would they let everyone else know if it was bad or not it's clearly between them and they will keep it that way

Some people on here are really showing their age. This forum should have an age-requirement. Or the requirement of braincells; Either works.

So Paterson has a cry because big bad Billy was mean to him? Aww how sad :(

FMD the article even says that Slater called him and sorted it out after the match, yeah he's a real arrogant prick...

tbf it worked in Newcastles favour. After that incident Slater went missing for the rest of teh game! Low act taunting a guy over his mental illness bit as said these are tough guys and I'm sure they've heard worse over their careers.

I'm not condoning what Slater did. I didn't see the incident, but if he did sledge him about his mental illness, that's a dog act. But if it's between Paterson and Slater and Paterson sees fit to go public with the sledge and Mullen heard it, Mullen should come forward and verify what he heard, standing by his mate

Mullen verified that he heard something and that's enough. Paterson obviously doesn't want what was said to be public, why should Mullen tell the media what was said?

People are surprised at Slater being a trackhead? He is a player who has some sort of squeeky clean image, and I have no idea why. He's a f**kwit on the field, little man syndrome personified, I've played footy against these kind of pricks before. Make up for their size by who they surround themselves with and the dirty sh*t they try and pull. Raking his studs over Skando's face. That Dragons game, where he was big enough to throw punches at a dragons player being held back by two storm players.

He's a f**kwit and always will be. Just another tick on his f**kwit resume

I appreciate what you are saying and it may just be the way I am reading it/reading into it, but it just comes over as far too neutral for me

Billy is summed up by his kick to Skandalis's face than running like a scalded cat to hide behind one of his own once Skando got up

Agreed.
He has always played a fair role in starting a stink, but has been nowhere to be found when the fists start flying.
Frankly it would have been irony if Patterson jammed two fingers in his right eye till blood gushed out of the socket and said "hmmmm, well now I feel slightly better about life, thanks Billy"

Call me insensitive but any sledging that is solely directed to a single target is fine by me.

It's a bit too vague, Billy is a d*ckhead but it was obviously some sort of rebuttle....be good to hear what both said to each other.
Either way that's a low thing to do.

Potentially.
BUT if you sledge someone a bit too far and they raise their fists you better be prepared to raise your own back.
The general belief with Slater is that when the sh*t hits the fan and someone see red and wants to have a bit of biffo is that he will run and hide behind bigger team mates.
Hang on, that's not just the belief if actually happened........................ more than once :(

The hypocrisy of some people on this forum makes me laugh.

As a result of the outrage of the people on this thread towards using mental states as a way of sledging someone I fully expect that the words genius and its derivative Victorian to withdrawn as acceptable to be used in any type conversation on this forum as you have shown that you will not stand for any such type of sledging of people.

You can not hold other people to a higher standard than you hold yourself and "oh but he is a role model" is not an excuse for hypocrisy. Any child can also read this forum and think the way people talk is acceptable in civalised conversation.
