Bennett will probably have a grand, unexpected (and on recent form, unsuccessful) plan in place for how to use Bird, but if you'd asked me two weeks ago who was likely to get Bird, Brisbane would have been way down the list (maybe Penrith/Raiders/Cowboys last, they seem happy with their halves and aren't losing one, Manly at the moment too).

They are the least likely to replace their current 1 or 6, you'd think, and Milford and Bird seems one of the worst cost to effectiveness ratio halves combos in the comp.

I can see Bird at fullback at Dragons, Eels, Roosters (if Gordon retires), Rabbitohs, Bulldogs, Eels, Titans or Knights, and 5/8 at Storm, Bulldogs, Eels, Tigers, Titans or Knights.

It doesn't seem to make any sense.

I have absolutely no inside info on this but what i do know is that our management have been the nost quiet of the clubs vying for his signature.
I also know that management have been extremely smart in their dealings and keeping them close to their chest.
It wouldn't surprise me if a smoke screen has been placed around everyone and everything.
Then again I could be just wishful thinking.

BBB, I wouldn't be surprised either. Flanno has an excellent record in the player market. He continues to find bargains and players that can work to his system.

It's because of the salary cap bullshit. 8.3 instead of 10, gives the knights and broncos a lot less to tempt young impressionable lads like bird.
