Bird Contract

Well yeah, unless we want him to go elsewhere.
He is priority number 1.

Prior and Graham should be easy re-signs.

Easy re signs?

Apparently the Knights have offered Prior $600k per season and Graham wants a 1million per season.

If they were easy re signs they'd be signed by now wouldn't they?

Matt Prior has received phone calls and conversations by 6 clubs in the NRL but can confirm he has not received a formal offer, as he is giving Cronulla the first chance to sign him.
If Cronulla don't come to the table, he will test the market.

I am not sure who informed you of Wade Graham wanting $1 Million dollars but it couldn't be further from the truth.
Wade had received interest from Parramatta and The Roosters (a long time love affair) but has not been responsive.
He is asking Cronulla for around $700k and the captaincy next year, regardless of Gallen playing or not.

That seems doable. Co-captaincy adequate?

Potentially, however, if Flanno nails his signings and Gal does decide to go for one more, a move to the bench has been discussed with him.

The only issue with having both Gal and Wade next year will be if Gal doesnt mind taking a pay drop or sharing the long service payments with Wado.

I think if the first two games are anything to go by, Wade's stepping up big time and is a must re-sign

If that's what Graham is asking that is not over the top at all.

If Flanno is interested in bringing in players front outside of the Club like Taumalolo, Nofoaluma etc... I can't see us re signing all of our off contract players. Someone like Prior or Townsend may be lost in the transfer war.

Prior is only worthwhile to us a cheapie, the moment he starts wanting more cashola is the time we need to wave goodbye. We don't want to be spending mega bucka in the forwarda unless its Taumololo.

We have some class in the backs, let keep them and stock up the team with not top of the line forwards but ones that will make do, just like the Storm over the years.

Gal on the bench on bench money is the only way forward for him beyond this year. As awesome as he is, his time has come (and possibly gone).

Not too sure if Gal will take benchie money to stay on. Can however see Lewie wanting another year if he holds his form. Think we all have to be prepared for the fact our top 25 will be significantly different next year as will many clubs considering the huge number of players on the market. Wrapped they secured Brailey for a couple more. Would like them to tie up Wade and Capewell before we get too far into the season. Fifi is already contacted for 18 yeah?

Don't discount a player who is near the end taking a SIGNIFICANT pay reduction for one more year.

Lewis for example, family here and settled won a GF and is happy as Larry. Tonplay one more year for an extra 200K but have to move house and then move again to retire isn't worth it.

Not to mention it's not all about the money, reckon Ennis didn't know he was getting a job at Sharks when he retired?

The club is very close knit - those leaving or staying on new cheaper deals will have been told what the plan is and I reckon flanno is the man that can tell them and get them over the line.

Prior will sign at a discount rate. Being so close to his home was a big draw card when he first signed.

I'm hearing strong rumours that the Reynolds may come over from the bulldogs. He'd play right side half over Townsend who has priced himself out of negotiations. Apparently gal is a big fan after playing origin together and is helping to make it happen. The thinking is that he will bring something similar to bird if bird ends up heading to Newcastle.
