From 6 June 2002, Footy Show.

Sterling: Nathan, you said that you were looking for new challenges. Do you know what those new challenges involve and does it mean that you might be looking at Rugby Union?
NB: Well I'm looking for a new challenge...no matter what it is. It could be Rugby Union, it could be anything. It could be laying bricks... I don't know yet. Harrogan: Well its an old saying but you are a long time retired... did you consider maybe just sitting out six months and coming back? Because even though you've had a wonderful career, there's still probably obviously things you'd want to do in the game. Did that cross your mind to just have a break from the game and then coming back?
NB: It has crossed my mind... it's a long time between now and then so anything could happen. Sterling: Is the door open with St George Illawarra if you happen to change your mind in say the next couple of months?
NB: Yeah mate, like I told Peter Doust... I'd never play against St George, I'd played with them.

Bronco, offcourse RU is footy in Union strongholds. In Leicestor UK, its called 'Rugby Football Union'.
I call RL footy and I'm sure Blacklocj does as well because he was brought up in a League town.

But to be honest, I'm even having trouble finding any reference to Blacklock saying that he wanted a breakfrom 'footy'.

Arghhhhhh....So your saying that Blacklock needed a break from league to play union? Rigghtttt, that makes a lot of sense

"He has a break from footy for almost a year now Moffo."

Thats a ridiculous comment Willow and i think you know that. He has been playing footy. Just of a rugby union kind. Arguing the definition of a word is taking away from the gist of the argument IMO

"Not sure what the point is, but if you base your argument on the Private School lads calling RU footy then you'll have to come up with something better"

Whattt??? So your suggesting that Tingha wouldn't think of union as footy? What would he think of it as then?

What I'm saying is that Tingha calls RL 'footy'. Crikey... how hard is that to understand?

Idont know whats happened to westies butLeague was always called 'footy' when I lived there. It was considered the only footy. If you now consider RU as footy as well then more power to you - but thats not universally accepted amongst all League supporters. I never thought I see the day that Moffo would call RU 'footy'. tsk tsk.

Diversion from the facts is a specialty which I can appreciate but this is one out of the box. Do you even remember the point you were trying to make?

lol, do you? My intial point was that Blacklock seems to be quite the indecisive character. And after 10 posts, it sticks for em

"What I'm saying is that Tingha calls RL 'footy'. Crikey... how hard is that to understand?"

So what does he call union? I call league footy as well. Of course league is footy. But do you really think that Blacklock would differentiate between the codes in terms of the word footy? No offense to the man, but he is a 'footy player'. Be it union or league, i still think he would call it footy.

I never knew that footy was a term of endearment. In my circles ;), union is rarely talked of, most of my friends wouldn't know what it was. And in the case where they do, they are hardly complementary about it!

Cheers,
Moffo

No you didnt say that. You seem have forgotten... memory laspes are worrying for anyone. ;)
You said: 'its a bit hard not to take anything he says withouta grain of salt. Doesn't know if he is arthuror martha most of the time'
and that, 'he changes his mind quite regularly'

Calling him 'quite the indecisive character' is a little softer and rather quaint if you don't mind me saying.

It was this 'he changes his mind quite regularly' bit that I first askedyou clarify.
I gave you the facts about his long history of consistency and the best you've come up with some hearsay ('rugby league is not for me anymore' - an incorrect statement) and and some weird stuff about how RU is called footy too.

Thus far, you have yet to bring substance to your argument.

"But do you really think that Blacklock would differentiate between the codes in terms of the word footy? "
Yes... I do. Plenty of others do as well. He's a country bloke afterall.

Funny thing is, I still can't find anything where he says that he is leaving 'footy'. Silly me, I should have researched your statement for you. So even this part of your argument is on shakey ground.

Nevertheless, if you read the transcripts of the interviews and saw and heard then with you own ears and eyes, you'd soom realise that he is a casual fellow and footy isa casual term which he we apply to Rugby League.

The fact is mate, Blacklock has never ruled out a return to RL and even said that he might come back within 2-6 months. I posted part of the interview for you in #121.You should accept much at least... I also have the audio if you want it.

Ahhh, i never knew that having a discussion on an internet site required such a high level of precision and accuracy. Can't we just have a discussion without getting ridiculously technical?

This argument seems to be going around in circles. I will give you what you posted in #121, but i never argued the point that he wouldn't come back to RL. He said that he had lost passion/RL was not his game anymore(same thing IMO, we can agree to disagree on this point), not that he would never return. I just found it 'interesting' that after a few months he regained his passion, and lost all his desires for playing rugby union

Cheers,
Moffo

Moffo: "but i never argued the point that he wouldn't come back to RL"

Rightio... so when you when you claimed that Blacklock said, ''rugby league is not for me anymore" , you were just making conversation.

He said that, i didn't say that. (or words to that effect, for the sake of conversation, you know what i mean). Where did i argue that he wouldn't come back? :(

This is a silly conversation if i have ever had one

Right you are ;)

Words to that effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And with that, i chose to maintain my sanity and retreat to my labour law assignment on the virtues of being a contractor over an employee

Good evening ;)

rugby union is not footy. footy is referred to as the most popular sport. examples being afl in melbourne called footy, soccer in england etc. being called footy or football, and rugby league being referred to as footy in nsw & qld. a good game of footy cannot being linked to a game of rugby union. they have already stole the term "rugby" to be used in short as their own.
"you can take our rugby, but u can never take our footy" (in a braveheart kind of way)

hutch, i'll ask you the same question I asked willow.

So are you saying if I asked Blacklock if he was playing footy his answer would be no?

Moronic? LOL... it is true that people can't smell their own shit? Try reading back some of your own regressive crap.

You ask a stupid question... expect a stupid answer.

The question was only stupid in your mind and your answer was moronic.

Reading your posts you say Union isn't Footy and you also speak on behalf of Blacklock when you say

"Blacklock needed a break from footy - he only answered the question honestly in that regard so whats the big deal about that? Rugby League is footy... right?"

So seeing that you have spoken on behalf of Blacklock I simply ask

"So are you saying if I asked Blacklock if he was playing footy his answer would be no?"

Now there are only two ansers to this question, and they are yes or no.

Instead of answering the question you say "Ask him yourself" which shows you didn't read correctly as you seem to be making it out like I have asked someone else to question him when I haven't.

It seems you only speak on Blacklock's behalf when it suits you.
